Samsung BD-C5500 Blu-ray Player Smart TV with Samsung Apps , Refurbished 617 660
Wonderful Product I absolutely love this Blu-Ray player. Before purchasing, I read everything I could about many different blu-ray players. One thing that was consistent, was that if it is at all possible, opt for hard-wired, rather than wireless. I completely agree with this. It was not easy running Cat 5 cable from my modem, from basement, across garage and upstairs, but well worth it. One thing many people complained about was firmware updates, and length of time required. Once I hooked it up, I was prepared to wait many, many minutes for firmware update to complete. Made sure it had started, then went to garage to get a coke. When I came back upstairs (just a couple of minutes), update was complete. I have downloaded quite a few movies from NetFlix, and speed is amazing -- and I don't have an especially fast Internet connection. Quality of blu-ray movies is AMAZING! Even downloaded movies are really sharp. And let me say one thing about Wal-Mart. I ordered very, very late on Thursday night, received notice that product shipped on Friday, and would arrive on Tuesday! Imagine my surprise when it actually arrived on Saturday! Outstanding! Way to go Wal-Mart. As much as I actually hate GOING TO Wal-Mart and shopping, I love ordering on-line. 10/23/2010
Excellent Value I usually shy away from Refurbished items, but the price on this blueray DVD player that also have internet applications was too good to pass. Walmart's very affordable extended warranty plans gave me additional comfort on this purchase. So on to the rating:Pros1. The load time for DVDs has been good.2. I connected it with a wired eithernet cable, and the videos from Netflicks have been perfect. Some reviewers had said videos have to be in your instant play que to get to them, but this player has a very good search feature with Netflicks.3. It also has a Blockbuster application. I haven't rented yet, but I set it up without issue. It's nice to have the option to use another movie source.4. The updates have not taken long at all to download. I wonder if the people that had issues with long download times have a slower internet connection. Mine isn't the fastest available, but it is cable. I had the update downloaded, a Netflicks account created, and a movie playing in about 30 minutes of installing the player.5. The weather channel app is a nice touch.6. I think the remote is fine. People have dogged it in other reviews, but it is a remote that does what is needed.7. I didn't have an included HDMI cable in the box, but I didn't expect one.8. It feels really light weight (which can feel cheap), but so far the quality seems to be good.Cons:1. The You Tube search feature is slow and awkward, but I didn't buy this to do a lot of You Tube viewing. It's a plus that it even has You Tube capability.2. The scan through scenes feature displays a small picture of the scene selection image while you are forwarding or rewinding, which sounds like a cool idea, but it also blocks part of the scene so can be a pain. I haven't figured out if it can be removed yet. Not terrible, just annoying.I am so very happy with this blueray player. 12/29/2010
More than meets expectations I was only looking for a cheap Blu-Ray player that could also stream NetFlix. Was I ever surprised. This little wonder does it all ... Blu-Ray, DVD, DivX, H.264, home burnt cd's & dvd's. It will stream NetFlix, Vudu, Youtube and others (including connecting to Facebook). However, it does not connect to Hulu or Hulu Plus. Has USB port for USB devices (memory sticks, etc.). Also has DLNA capabilities for those that want to stream media from their home networks. It does not come with the wireless adapter, not a problem for me since I prefer to use a Cat-5 cable with the RJ-45 jack (faster speeds than wireless). For those that have asked, mine did ship with an included HDMI cable. 02/21/2011
Samsung BD-C5500 Blu-ray Player best buy This Blu-ray player was rated by consumer report as a consumer best buy. Based on this and a great Walmart price I purchased this product and I am very happy with it. I did not purchase the wireless adapter yet because my TV is already equipped with wireless for streaming movies and other internet content. 04/08/2011
