You push the green diamond shaped button in the middle and there's a little grey button on the bottom you're supposed to push at the same time.
Me I just have my 2 year old open them for me.

It takes two hands to open these locks. You have to press the button on the left side in and, at the same time, push up on the tab on the bottom of the right side. Sounds complicated but, after a few times, it's a breeze. These are good cabinet locks.

Push in center button and hold while pressing in bottom release tab to separate lock.
Pull inside lever up to remove strap.
Place strap through cabinet handle or around knob.
Reinsert strap through slot.
Repeat on other side.
Snap lock together.
Pull strap to tighten.

on the left side of the lock is the green lock picture. on the right side at the bottom there's a button. push green lock and the button simultaneously and pull the lock apart. viola. open. To close, make sure loops are over knobs, then join the two pieces of the lock until you hear a snap. done.

The Side by Side Cabinet Lock can be used up to 8 inches apart measured center to center.

my cabinet knobs are 3.5 inches apart and my locks work great. The knob holes on the device are adjustable, though; there's a tiny spring on the inside of the right lock device that you have to pop upward in order to lengthen or shorten the knob holes. My guess is you could most likely use these if your cabinet knobs are as far as 7 inches apart (maybe even more). Hope that helps.

What's the farthest the handles can be apart?

You can use this lock with side-by-side cabinet or fridge. However, the door must have two knobs or handle.

Can these be used for side by side door fridge/freezer?

Ease Of Use

These locks are great and easy to open for adults but, not for my 18 month old grandson. I've tried other side by side locks but, he figured them out. VERY good product to keep the little ones safe.

These work!!

My bathroom cabinets have very widely spaced handles. Most locks wouldn't even stretch between both handles. This one fits wonderfully and can be tightened easily to keep my kiddos' little fingers out. Definitely recommend :)

Keeps little hands out!

It's a great product, but you should be aware of a few things. Before you attach it to anything, take a few minutes to practice opening and closing it. It's a little tricky to operate, and the plastic is stiff at first (which makes it seem more difficult than it is). I wouldn't use it on any cabinet you use regularly, unless it contains very valuable or dangerous items. Be forewarned that it takes both hands to open it, so if you have arthritis or something, you may want to consider something else.

This product works well to keep my little one out of the dangerous kitchen cabinets. Easy to install and use. The color blends in nicely with my glazed white cabinets.

Works well

No hardware necessary = ideal for renters. They're easy enough for the grown up to open, but too hard for the monster to open. They keep the cabinets closed just enough so they can't stick their hands in if they decide to get in via other methods. A note: THESE ONLY WORK IF YOU REMEMBER TO CLOSE THEM AFTER OPENING THEM. Also, I recommend putting them on your cabinets when the wee one isn't looking; if s/he sees you, she'll be drawn to them...all in all great purchase. Going to gift these to all my expectant friends.

Best hardware free cabinet locks

I needed something I could use with my nearly 3 year old daughter. once i figured out how to open it, its a piece of cake.

perfect for use against a toddler

Looks small on the picture but when i got it, i thought it was a little to big but is usable. A little hard to unlock it but good for the value.

Good to lock those cabinets

I should have paid more attention to the reviews that said it would be hard to open. I thought it would be hard to open, not nearly impossible. Fortunately I didn't need to use them while my grandchildren visited - heavy duty rubber bands worked instead. I bought two packages of the Cabinet Locks. I will return the unopened package.

Too hard to open

Cannot believe I wasted $14 on these. We literally had to cut them off they are so hard to open. The little buttons you have to push are so tiny that my husbands didn't fit and I literally broke 2 nails when I tried. These locks make me angry lol. And my hubby is very handy so I know they were installed properly. Don't buy! Get the magnets!
