The Sony DAV-DZ175 Home Theater System brings home the thrill and sensation of watching movies in a real theater. With the HDMI upscaling feature, the system lets you watch non-HD DVDs in near-HD resolutions so you wont have to buy the same titles in better formats. The Sony home theater system is compatible with most of the popular DVD and CD formats and boasts of multiple disc resume up to 10 discs. You can conveniently store up to 20 FM frequencies and switch between them without further tuning. The 5.1-channel home theater system handles both Dolby Digital/Pro Logic II and DTS encoded audio with aplomb and delivers a powerful, enveloping sound. It delivers a consistent audio quality across the entire spectrum including the low frequency bass range. Further, you can readily rip audio CDs and store the encoded files onto a USB drive. Other thoughtful additions include iPod connectivity and BRAVIA sync among many others.

Good Little System For the price it is worth it! Sub-Woofer could be better. All speakers wires are jack into unit, but clip in at speaker for ease of changing speakers out. Subwoofer has a fixed wire from sub to unit and you'll have to cut the wire to upgrade the sub. It is NOT a powerd sub. "The kind you plug into an outlet." Surround sound is good! There is no Eject Button on remote for the DVD. You have to get up to eject and load your DVD, which is not too big a deal since you have to do that anyway. HDMI cable does improve picture quality from DVD to HD quality. I set my volume level to 25-27 . Good System for the price. 07/11/2010
good sound I was surprised how good the sound is with the small speakers,I was replacing an onkyo home theater and was torn whether to get an a/v receiver or not so since this is in a small area this works fine. but if you have a larger place you might opt for a bigger system if you have more componets to hook up. there are no rca input jacks on this one. one thing I did find out is that you can get 5.1 sound with just 1 optical cable if your tv has that output but you need to use hdmi cables for that. overall if you mainly just want the surrond sound and don't listen to a lot of cd's this is excellent but don't expect it to sound like a receiver with big speakers playing cd's. hope this helps with a decision. 11/23/2010
Great system Initially I wanted to buy a Bose home theater system, but was restricted by my budget. We have a small living room and our stereo was outdated, to say the least. I gave it to my husband as an anniversary gift and he was thrilled. It took him about an hour to completely set up and calibrate. The DVD made it simple, and it was compatible with our game systems and Tivo. My husband is handy and good with wiring, etc. I do not know if it would be as easy for someone who is not. We love it and it completely makes our movie viewing amazing. We have watched DVD's, listened to CD's, played Xbox, PS3, and played our Ipods on it. Excellent quality! A+++++++ 02/23/2011
Great Buy for Price Originally saw RCA for $158.00 but it only had 3 stars...so I threw in a few extra bucks to get this. So glad I made the decision. Awesome sound in bedroom, plenty loud for a small living room or for a bedroom. I hooked up PS3 using optical digital cable. Just make sure you change the audio options in the PS3 to match optical cable. Gaming just got 100% better with this. 02/21/2011
