FINALLY! The perfect HTPC soundcard. OK, first off, if you are running W7, this card is perfect without the stupid software it comes with.Plug it in and let it install, it is perfect. It was a very nice touch that it came with both low profile and standard brackets. Apparently, this will also plug into a PCIe slot, I don't have a spare one.All I wanted was to be able to feed a optical SPDIF output into my Harman/Kardon reciever and get proper Dolby Digital from it. I have yet to find any other LOW PROFILE card that will do this. Very few motherboards that come with SPDIF outputs do proper Dolby...this card does it gracefully.Please keep in mind only Dolby Digital programs will play DD, otherwise my receiver defaults to Dolby Pro-Logic or some other fake 5.1 nonsense.So now with this $40 card and a $40 video card (Zotac GT210 512mb) using Windows upscaling, I have better sound and WAY better image from my PC than my Samsung DVD player. My PC is pretty meager, it is a P4 3.0Ghz (HT) with 1.5GB of DDR2, but it does everything I need...except play Blu-Ray disks straight off the BR ROM. Apparentl;y I need WAY more PC to do that...but for what we do with it, this is just wonderful.If you get one I hope you are as satisfied with it as I am. 11/05/2011
