The All Access totes are not water proof. Water would be able to get in around the front door.

No they are not. The door that opens on the front of the bin does not have a gasket to keep moisture out. You might try a bin with a lid that closes on the top.

The front latch door is flimsy if there is alot of water I can see it getting some water in through the cracks.

I would think no because the front clear door doesn't appear to be seal proofed. Very easy to open.

I don't believe it would. Doesn't appear waterproof. I wouldn't use it where it would flood.

Size is 9.51 x 17.51 x 11.58 inches according to the listing. I have about a dozen of them and I absolutely love &#39;em!!!

There is no way to attach locks to the Access Totes.

I don't think so because you have two ways to get into the bin...from the top and from the clear side door.
I don't see how it would be possible to secure both doors via a combination lock.

You'd have to drill holes through the top lid and the front door and then you wouldn't be able to stack it. Also, the front door can be popped out by someone who really wanted to.

Is it possible to assemble a combination lock onto it?

The Rubbermade Access totes do have a door that swings open. It is conceivable that rain could get in around the door.

I personally would not use them for storing potting soil simply because the front door opens and is not air tight. There is not rubber gasket around the door or the opening...and if you open the door your soil will fall out. If you looking for bins that you can scoop out your soil from, you might try recycle bins as they are slanted on the top which is where the door is located.

Rain yes it closes very well on top but water can get in the door in the front. I say put it on a shelf

I just bought this product yesterday from Walmart. It instantly caught my eye because of the bright turquoise/teal color which is great because it's for my college dorm! My walmart only had this container in the small size, but thats okay because it needs to fit under my bed or in my closet. Anyways, I managed to fit a bunch of stuff (hotpot, crockpot, 2 first aid kits, my sheets, laundry stuff, washcloths and some other odds and ends) into it. The door is also useful to see what I have in there so I dont have to go move a bunch of other buckets around. I plan on buying more!!

We stumbled across this product last year and now have 6 in our small animal veterinary clinic ~ Companion Animal Hospital in Phenix City, Alabama. We actually pop the access door off and use them for boarding cats. They are the perfect size for cats to sleep in, as well as lounge around on the top. As with all Rubbermaid products, superior quality and easily washed and disinfected between cats. Thanks!!

I ordered this for my newly renovated porch and use them to keep our outdoor (rescue) cat's bowls, catnip, food, etc., inside them and some of his "blankies!" I may also order another set, as well. They are such a pretty turquoise / teal color, look great and are an added addition to the porch. They are truly GREAT, stackable and seem very durable. "Black Cat" loves them, too!
