    Roku LT

Awesome product, connect to your wi-fi and it just works, if you buy this ROKU, you do have to sign up on-line with The remote is great, I have no problem with the remote even the unit it is behind glass in a cabinet, The unit is so small, it takes up no space, you can place it on the corner of another device and keep it away from the heat given off by your cable box etc; about the size of a Hockey puck, only very light weight There a tons of apps to scan through, most are free! I have the LT on a CRT, 480p on a CRT but the ROKU is able to be switched up too 780p if you have an LCD/LED TV. The remote is very small light weight, watch it, you can lose it in couch cushions easily. I have read tons of reviews of other TV convertors and everyone seems to come back to ROKU, it works like a charm! For those that do not have a credit card, you do need one when you sign up on line, in case you use VUDU, NETFlix, pay channels, you can call Roku and they will make an exception for you if you do not have a credit card, a friend used this method. ROKU"S customer service is excellent if needed. I bought an LT for someone that still uses a CRT TV and his also work's like a charm.

Great product but only with great Internet service

Our family really enjoys the options we can have with roku. It's hard to find good tv anymore so we have resorted to this. My kids can watch tv without me worrying about commercials and shows that are inappropriate. I myself like the ease of use and setup only took about 15 minutes. We will be canceling our cable due to the high cost and limited variety. One thing to keep in mind before purchasing is to make sure you have a great Internet service. My parents ,who also have a roku, live out in the country and the service is not that great so shows tend to stop and reload which causes frustration.

    New life for older tv

Since I don't want to pay for another cable box my tv upstairs has sat dark for a couple years. I finally got the Roku because it was just too good a price to pass up and now my tv gets not only Netflix and some other free tv/movie channels, but I can get radio stations including Pandora while I work. I had gotten one of the Rokus several years ago and sent it right back because it just didn't have the throughput to handle the streaming in an acceptable fashion. Don't know if the streaming services are better or the Roku is that much better, but now it is awesome.

    • Terri, you'll have to have internet to be able to use any streaming media player. The "streaming" that is referred to, means that you are streaming media content over the internet to view on your TV. You'll have to have an internet service provider, and a WIFI network in place for the Roku to connect to.

    • Yes, it uses an internet connection for EVERYTHING, which includes downloading channels, and streaming.

    • Yes. You must have a wireless connection to use the Roku Player. No Ethernet connection available.

    • Yes, it connects to your wireless or wired Internet in your home. Then it streams video over the Internet.

    • Yes. ROKU streams video from the Internet. All Roku models work with Wi-Fi, so you will also need a WI-FI ROUTER and you will need high speed DSL of about 1.5mbps minimum. Faster service is better of course as things load faster. For 1080 HD I found that 3MBPS is not really adequate and upgraded to 5MBPS service. The exception to the Wi-Fi requirement is the ROKU 3 model which has an Ethernet jack for a wired Internet connection plus works with Wi-Fi also if you have Wi-Fi. All the models except the ROKU 3 require Wi-Fi.
