Delicious Popcorn! I received this (as well as a retro cotton candy machine) as a Christmas gift from my parents.Before I left my parents' house on Christmas Eve we were eating fresh, hot movie theater style popcorn! We cleaned the unit, warmed it up for about 5 minutes and had popcorn less than 5 minutes later! I love the look of this popcorn machine, too!I had a hint that I was getting this as a present, so I had already gone to Market Grocery at the State Farmer's Market in Forest Park (I live in the Atlanta area). They sell pre-portioned packs of popcorn kernels (with salt added) and oil. These packs are made for 8 oz. poppers, so I use 1/4 of it at a time. I love buttery popcorn salt (not the white popcorn salt you can buy at grocery stores), so I was able to buy a carton of it for less than $2!I have only a few complaints:1. Not all popcorn kernels pop. It's not an awful amount that don't. I just don't like to waste them!2. When cleaning the unit, salt and crumbs are difficult to pick up. There should be holes in the bottom metal plate and a pull out drawer holding all of the crumbs under that to ease the cleaning process.3. Sometimes small pieces of popped corn get stuck under the motorized spinning arm within the kettle. This causes the unit to stop turning and burns the popcorn if you aren't able to get to the machine fast enough to fix the problem. This has only happened to me 2-3 times out of the 20+ times I've used the machine, but it's still annoying. I believe this happens because the spinning arm is raised from the bottom of the kettle. It should be flush with the bottom like in commercial popcorn machines.Other than those 3 minor complaints, I love this machine. Anyone that comes over always requests a bag of my popcorn before they leave! Since it takes less than 10 minutes to make the first batch and less than 5 minutes to make additional batches, it's not a problem. It would take just as long to pop a store bought bag of popcorn in the microwave. Using this machine makes almost as much (I'd say 1 batch is equal to about 3/4 of a bag)!I recommend this retro popcorn maker to everyone who loves fresh movie theater popcorn without the price of a movie ticket (or the price of the popcorn)! 01/12/2009

Retro Popcorn Machine I bought this for my Dad who is around 70 and does not read instructions and is not mechanically inclined at all and he has been using this machine since he got it without any problems at all. He loves how it works and how the popcorn tastes. There has been no problems with it as long as you use the correct oil in it. My brother got one for his wife and all he had was canola oil on hand and decided to use it. The kernels got stuck in the metal pot on top. My Dad got the oil that it said to use and he's never had a problem. It's been wonderful! 07/11/2010
