There is no spring/auto closing on the door. You have to manually open and close it.

It doesn't lock automatically, you have to work the lever to lock it. It doesn't swing closed automatically either, unless you mount it on a slight angle.

I don't see why not - if you made the gap larger at the bottom, the gate would stand about 3 1/2 feet tall. Pretty secure to the walls with just the pads, but you can also screw it into the wall.

Yes! This gate also includes shallow cups that can be screwed into the door jam to help the gate be knock-down resistant. (The gate adjustments are held in place by these cups.)

It holds back a very athletic jack russell dachund mix at my house.

Yes I have a 80lb half lab and half pit it holds her in and she can't break it like she has the wooden and plastic ones, she isn't able to move it once you have it tight into place..

Yes, in my opinion. This is one solid, sturdy gate. Once in place, you can't move or wiggle it. It's 30" tall.

A Lab would probably be able to climb or jump over this gate very easily. It's not that tall.

Yes. we have the same issue. The top tension and bottom tension can be adjusted to different lengths.

Yes, you would probably install this just above your baseboards as we did. We placed the pressure caps against the wall. When we open the gate we step over the bar, but we placed the gate about 4 inches above the floor so our cat could go under it. The pressure cap should be placed on a flat surface, our baseboard is not flat anyway.

It depends on how big the opening where you want to install it is. However, all four sides are independently adjustable, so it will allow you to adjust the bottom differently than the top.
