Okay I really didn't know what to expect. But I had to try something since black out curtains and other items out there are so expensive. They are made of paper but I have been shocked at what a big difference these shades have made in my upstairs. Big difference! I told my sister about them and for the price it is worth it because if you don't like them it's not like you spent $10 or more dollars on them. I like the clips that come with the shades to pull them up if I need to allow light in because let me tell you "these shades do black out light". But it has made a huge difference as to how much hot heat light it has kept out and made my upstairs cooler. I am actually going to purchase more for I have a lot of windows in my upstairs. So if you don't mind that they are paper and totally darken a room which is exactly what it is supposed to do, then try them. The only thing I found could be better or stronger is the adhesive that holds them up. but it's no big deal to me-I used additional tape to keep them more secure.

I work 12hr nightshifts. I have been using cardboard in the windows behind the blinds to darken the room. Although that worked ok parts of the cardboard would bend (unless taped to the window) and light would shine through. I purchased these shades to go up behind the blinds to completly block out any light. You would think it was dark outside with how wonderful they work!! I've only had them up a few days, so I hope they last a long time. I would recommend these to anyone who works nights or has to sleep during the day!!!

I bought these for my son's room, there was no price, but the reviews said they were cheap. So I went to get them, and saw the price, bought 5 of them! They look GREAT!!! The reason I didn't give 5 for 'Meet Expectations' is because they are not sticking like I thought they would. I'm having to use push pins to keep them from falling. My son wasn't napping in his room good, I wasn't sure if it was because it was too bright, so I got these because they say they're black out, I might be wrong, but that to me means they black out all the light. They don't block out ALL of the light. But a good precent of it. But very good product, even thought they fell down, I'm excited to finally have some! I put some on my kitchen window, and bathroom window! LOVE them!

I will never buy regular blinds again. No damage to the wall, easy to re-stick if you need to adjust, extremely simple and very modern look that will last a considerable amount of time in the right environment. Possible setbacks / things to consider: The product is made of a big folded sheet of construction paper material. *they don't open and close like regular blinds do, you will have to grab the bottom and refold the blind to desired height & clip it in place to let light in. *Another thing: if it is a high traffic area or you plan to open a window while the blind is on, you will have a problem with possible crinkles in this product or tears should there be a forceful wind or rain etc. * the product loses it's sharp edge / crease after a while so occasionally you should refold clip and leave in place for a while to get that crisp creased look. If it is for a window you rarely open and that people will rarely brush up against, this is perfect! I have had mine for about 6 months and am about to go purchase more because they are starting to look a little worn .... but for 5 bucks a piece I think it wont hurt me too much & now that I know how to care for them this batch should last longer.

Bought this for my son's room because he works nights and sleeps days so he needed it really dark in his room. The shade worked great and when not in use you can just roll it up.

Basically what this is, is an accordion folded piece of somewhat thick paper-like (not fabric like it says) that applies at the top of the window via an adhesive peel and stick strip. If you were to stick it wrong, you could peel and re-stick, but it's not meant to be taken down and reapplied on a routine basis. It comes with clips that hold it all the way folded up, and basically hidden, when you dont want it covering the window. I have regular blinds and curtains on my windows and also these. My guests would never know they are even there, as they are folded all the way up and clipped, and I only put them down when I need to sleep through the day due to working night shift. They really do filter almost ALL of the light provided you cut them to fit tight on the inside of the window (they are cut-to-fit, and you do this yourself at home based on your own window.) They make the room look completely dark like it's actually dark outside. You wouldnt know by looking at them that they are paper, and they actually look nice and would be fine as a stand-alone window covering instead of having mini blinds. Exceptionally great product for the price, and would highly recommend them!

I have a one year old. If I'm able to keep them from falling off of the wall with nails, etc, will she be able to rip the blinds? I don't want to buy if they're made of cheap, papery material. Thanks, :)

    • A. There isn't a shade made that will stand up to a two year old. These are papery and if they are in reach, she will destroy them.

    • A. These may not be for you then, because they are papery, and would tear if pulled. They do work exceptionally well though and they don't look bad either!

    • A. For 5 bucks you will not get anything to stand up against a toddler :) My dog jumped up and ripped these very easily with his paw, you may have to shoot for something a tad more pricey of stronger material.

    • A. One should not expect them to withstand any rough treatment from a toddler. They are made of folded paper and double-sided tape. They come with plastic clips (like a chip clip in your kitchen) that hold them in the Up position.
