Lucy Marinn is a glass artist living in mystical, beautiful Friday Harbor, Washington, with a boyfriend, Kevin, who she believes is her soul mate. She has always had a magical side ? a gift that finds its way into the breathtaking glasswork she creates ? and she struggles to keep it contained. But when Lucy is blindsided by the most bitter kind of betrayal, she questions many of her choices. Her boyfriend leaves her and his new lover is none other than Lucy's own sister. Lucy's bitterness over this devastation is multiplied by the fact that she has constantly made the wrong choices in her romantic life. Meanwhile, facing the severe disapproval of Lucy's family, Kevin asks his friend Sam Nolan, a local vineyard owner on San Juan Island, to ?romance? Lucy so that she can more easily move on. But when Sam and Lucy begin to feel real sparks between them, Lucy must ask herself if she can easily risk her heart again. As Lucy questions her beliefs about love, loyalty, old patterns, mistakes, and new beginnings, she explores the possibility that some things in life ? even after being broken ? can be re-made into something beautiful. And that it is only by discovering who you really are that you can find the one who truly deserves you. Lisa Kleypas has a knack for making readers cry, laugh, and cheer ? often within the first couple of pages.? ? RT Book Reviews

Review by Library Journal (2012-06-01)

In this second volume in Kleypas's "Friday Harbor" trilogy, glass artist Lucy Martin has an ideal life until her boyfriend breaks up with her. Even worse, he's involved with her sister, who Lucy feels has been spoiled and catered to her entire life. Lucy moves on, living with innkeeper friends until a bicycle accident causes her to seek assistance from Sam Nolan, a local vineyard owner. Sam has scrupulously avoided commitment, and Lucy is still suffering from the breakup and in no rush to begin another relationship.

Verdict: Kleypas inserts magic into the slow-moving plot, which is read professionally by Tanya Eby. Recommended primarily for Kleypas's many fans.

Review by Library Journal (2012-02-15)

Shaken when her boyfriend of two years throws her over for her younger, self--centered sister, glass artist Lucy Marinn is not about to be drawn into another serious relationship-especially not with the attractive man she encounters on the beach right after her breakup. Vintner Sam Nolan isn't into committed relationships either, so a casual, no-strings affair with Lucy is the perfect thing-until their feelings get in the way.

Verdict: A hero who's afraid of commitment, a heroine who never felt loved quite enough, and an abundance of memorable characters combine in a story that brings families and their varying dynamics into sharp focus. With a dash of enchantingly believable magic, Kleypas nicely progresses the story begun in the series opener, Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor. She lives in the Pacific Northwest.
