WHAT IS JESUS WORTH TO YOU?"
"
It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily...
BUT WHO DO YOU KNOW WHO LIVES LIKE THAT? DO YOU?
In" Radical," David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple--then invites you to "believe "and "obey "what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a "successful" suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus.
Finally, he urges you to join in The Radical Experiment -- a one-year journey in authentic discipleship that will transform how you live in a world that desperately needs the Good News Jesus came to bring.

Book description

WHAT IS JESUS WORTH TO YOU?

It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily...

BUT WHO DO YOU KNOW WHO LIVES LIKE THAT.

DO YOU?

In Radical, David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple--then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard.

Rated 4.8 out of 5★by 20reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5★by A very good study SI think that everybody should read this book. It gets down to the basic fundamentals of what is required by GOD to be a follower of Christ. I feel that the author did a great work in putting this book together. I would highly recomend this reading to all. 10/23/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★by Awesome Book!!! Do not read this book if you are comfortable living the "American Dream". This book will realign your priorities with the way God wants you to live. It is very powerful. David Platt knows what he is talking about. 10/06/2010
Rated 4 out of 5★by A challenge to the church David Platt’s Radical, is just that. What Platt seeks to do is better inform the American church of what it has been called to do…be radical. Though this type of radical living, is found in the Bible, I suspect that many in the church, though convicted to follow, will push back against this book. Platt clearly believes that the church is not doing all it can. That we are playing it safe. That we aren’t going into the nations. That we’re living for ourselves. And after finishing this book, I find it hard to argue with him. Platt backs up all his conclusions with Scripture, this isn’t a book based on theory. Platt challenges the reader (or I expect you’d be challenged) on every page. As soon as you enter into a new topic and think “Oh I don’t have to worry about this, I’ve got this one covered”, something is brought out that rocks your comfort zone.Is this a manual on how to live radically? Sort of. It’s not a blue print that will say, “do this, this, and this and you’ll be radical”. But it will begin the conversation as to what does your life look like in various contexts as it relates to the Word of God. I enjoyed and was thoroughly challenged by this book. As with anything, there are some things (none major) that I have some hesitation about, but over all it was a great read.I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. 01/20/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★by Great book! I would highly recommend this book, for those of you who are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Messiah, Son of God, Who came to save us from the sins of this world, this book will challenge you to live a biblical based life and encourage you in your walk.Powerful, must read book. 07/24/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★by Radical Book- excellant If you are looking for a challenge and a solid biblical reason to check your spiritual pulse, read this book. Easy reading and often comical but it will cause a lot of reflection, as well. 06/27/2011
Rated 4 out of 5★by As Advertised A well written book, but not entirely gripping. It is a fairly easy read, but raises some very challenging questions about what it means to love Jesus in a world with as much privilege as we live in. Word of caution, my wife and I are thinking about selling our house to move to a smaller one so that we can give away more money. 10/22/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★by trueth be told wonderful book , its an eye opener and gives you much to think on . 03/01/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★by Great book if you're not afraid of the truth Someone gave this book to me; I loved it so much I've now given away about 20 copies. If you've noticed that the modern Christian isn't living like the Bible says we should, then this book is for you. Platt says he still has many questions, but I think he's found many of the answers sincere Believers are looking for. Bible-based; personal; well-written; challenging. 11/30/2010
