Rated 5 out of 5 by ooblygoobly Exceeded my expectations I really didn't expect much from this RCA 9 inch DVD/TV...because of so many mixed reviews. And that I live in a rural, mountainous area in a 'bowl' so to speak.But, I went ahead and took the plunge figuring if it only worked as a decent DVD player, then it would be ok. Well what a surprise when I sat down after charging it#which didn't take that long#, reading the instructions, and I was watching t.v. on it! I tried over the air with the antenna that it came with, first. Nothing, nada, zip, zilch. I expected that. I Don't have a booster or different antenna to hook to. I do have cable and a box hooked to my large t.v. I do not have an extra box for this dvd/tv, so I took the cable cord that was previously hooked up #without a box# and put it into the antenna spot of the dvd/tv player. Made sure the setting was on cable and bingo, I was watching t.v. Not as many channels available as with the box, but a good many! I was stunned! No, not as good as good of a picture as my huge hdtv 1080p, which I knew it wouldn't be...but good enough to go camping with in the travel trailer! The channels that come in, come in both non digital and digital. Of course the digital looks much better. Also the stations only fill part of the screen, meaning there is a 1 inch black bar on both sides of the picture. Because of the ratio which is stated in the info before you buy. I don't mind. I'm just happy it works!Then I tried playing a dvd in it. Did the switching of t.v. to dvd and put in The Christmas Story. It was absolutely fine and the whole picture filled in the screen. Because of the ratio for dvd's. No black bars. I do plan on getting a different antenna or booster or whatever I might need for in the house, my travel trailer already has antenna and booster. But this thing would be great if the electric is out and I really, really wanted/needed to watch a movie or t.v.! In fact I'm so impressed I might just get another one altogether, one for the house for electric outages and one for the travel trailer. I am not techie in any way. I can read instructions. I do not work for RCA or affiliates or walmart or affiliates. Simply, pleased with this product. Everything was included in the box. Although not a case. I'm simply going to store it in the box it came in. Should travel fine that way.It was mostly set up per English, and other settings. Soon as I switched to dvd, it started spinning. BUT there is a small cardboard piece in side that says to remove first! I didn't. I was worried, I could hear it spinning. Of course when I opened it, I removed the cardboard. Still works just fine!Can't speak to it's durability, but I don't foresee a problem. It's worth the money in my opinion. 03/19/2013
