I had my TV signal split to 3 different TV's, the TV furthest away had the worst picture. After getting rid of the passive splitters and using the RCA signal amplifier, the picture quality is now excellent on all TV's!

    • It needs to be as close to antenna as possible, the closer it is the better it will work!

    • this is for indoor use only. it is mounted in the central location of the home. the antenna cable goes to the input . the cables from the tv's about the home connect to the outputs. if this is no working for you then your antenna/cable will need work .then an outdoor amp maybe necessary like the AP-8700 or others. depends on how far from tv stations.

    • It should be installed as close to the antenna as possible.

    • First, since it has to be plugged in it has to be near an outlet. Second, it will work better if it is closer to the antenna because there is signal loss on a long coax cable.

    • Can place anywhere in between TV an antenna, as long as able to plug this Amp into wall outlet, has directions in amp box

    • Hello, it depends on how your cables are distributed, I would attempt to install it in a central location if possible, it should be where all your coax cables are located, I would remove the splitters then connect the amp to them, remember you must have an AC power source in my case I had to install ac outlet inside the hallway closet with 2 outlets one for the antenna power injector and one to power up the amplifier, it greatly improved the picture on all 4 Tvs very happy with this product.

I have an indoor antenna attached to a converter box. I get zero signal. Will this device get me any kind of signal? I'd settle for even one station! I'm about 30 miles from the nearest local tv station.
    by justokinde 12/4/2010
    • Be sure to place the amplifier as close to the antenna as possible and before the signal goes into the converter box. Height of the antenna and orientation are important also.

    • If zero signal, no. But I doubt you know for sure if it is zero. Try it. If it does not work, move antenna in room. If it still does not work, move antenna outside.

    • if i was a betting man i would error on the side that 30 miles is pretty close for this to work somewhat. But indoor antennas dont really have a broad band path anymore. go to tvfool.com and type your info in

    • 30 miles from the tv antennas with an outdoor antenna properly set up you should get a good signal. you need a uhf antenna. get the rectangle type, with 4 bow ties. also use quad shield rg6 cable with copper conductors . this amp is not a preamp. this amp requires a strong low noise signal. if you have problems getting a good signal after repairing your antenna/cable issues then buy a AP-8700 pre-amp. this is mounted at the antenna connections. you will amplify the low signal to create a higher amplitude signal . then the splitter amplifier can send this high signal to other tv's around your home.

    • At 30 miles you should receive a signal. I tried an amplified antenna into my converter box without success and replaced that antenna with a Philips Model SDV2210/27 (less than $10 at Walmart*). I experimented with different antenna positions (especially the center loop) and dial positions until a clear digital signal was obtained. Very small movements of the loop and dial will change the signal strength. The TV at the antenna on the second floor worked great but when I connected the antenna into the coax system tvs on the first floor did not get a good picture. Installing this amplifier at the antenna, with an output into the coax system of the town home solved all my tv reception issues. Hope this helps... just an old guy

    • I doubt this would help you much as it is really designed to take a signal and push it through a long cable run not necessarily pull a signal where there isn't one already. We have a similar situation in our guest room with a converter box attached to an older TV with rabbit ears on top of the TV. It works fine without any additional amplifiers attached to it and most of the TV stations are about 30 miles from us.

    • If your antenna gives you some signal this amplifier will make it stronger. If your signal strength from your antenna alone is nil then the amplified signal will only be nil plus. Make sure your coax cables are good and the unit is plugged in to power. Your DTV converter needs to rescan after being connected through the amplifier to detect receivable staions.

    • Your TV antenna needs to be outside on roof, an high as you can place it,, away from any objects, also need to know what direction the TV station tower is, you may live in a area without any towers, most tv antennas an this product can pick up signals up to 75 miles away, line of site of course
