    Just What We Needed

I purchased this mattress to use on the top bunk of my daughter's bed. She loves it! It is much like a futon mattress. I was afraid of the reviews, but really needed a mattress for her. I did not have any problems with the length or width after the bed covers were put on. It is thinner than your normal twin mattress, so the sheets need to be tucked in tighter. Other than that, no complaints!

My 9 year old son uses this for his Walmart bunk bed. I flip it over about once a month just so that one side doesn't get more used than the other. Son loves it and says it's comfortable. I thought it would be too hard to sleep on, but it softened up. Fits perfectly in the bunk and it's not too high for it. Twin size sheets fit perfectly on it.

The box in which it was shipped even says it's a futon mattress. There is no support to it whatsoever. I bought it as a top-bunk mattress and it works just fine. However, my son is beginning to complain that he can feel the bars of the support frame through the mattress. Would definately purchase a support board to put between the frame and this mattress.

    Just buy a regular Mattress

We purchased a bunk bed from Walmart and saw that they had this mattress which was specifically for the top bunk because a regular mattress would be too thick and could pose a hazard. Now that we have the mattress on the bed, it's really not long enough and poses an even bigger hazard with getting a foot caught around the edge or something worse. There is too big of a gap around the edge of the bed as well as at the head and foot of the bed. I would strongly reccommend a regular mattress for the top bunk. Also, if you choose this mattress for your top bunk, be sure to get a bunk slat or a piece of thin wood to lay on top of the slats. The mattress will start to fall through the slats as it gets more used.

This isn't something you can use for everyday furniture. It isn't sturdy enough. The picture makes it look much more firm than it really is. You can't stand it against a wall. It'll just slump down and fold over. It'll conform to the shape of whatever you set it on, so I hope you're not using slats. I wanted to use this on my son's lower bunk bed, but I'm going to have to get something else. The cover is very thin material and it fits the mattress loosely. I opened it to see what the mattress was made of and I'm not even sure how to describe it. It's like the material version of particle board. Stuffing of all sorts and colors, a bit like a large rectangular ball of lint. I wouldn't even recommend it for a futon mattress because the thing is so flimsy I'm sure it'd wear out in a few months. I didn't expect much for this price, but even so I'm disappointed. I'm giving it two stars because it might be useful for something. Maybe for camping or as a temporary bed. Personally, I'd sooner buy an air mattress. This mattress is soft, that's about all I can say for it. I might keep it around for when the kids have sleepovers since it's slightly better than sleeping on the floor. Otherwise it's completely useless.

    • A. The mattress was compressed when shipped, then popped back into shape once opened, so I bet it would work great in the camper, as long as the bunk is designed to hold a twin sized mattress.

    • A. I would think so. It is labeled as a twin but is slightly shorter than a true twin by a few inches. Also, it is only 6 inches thick on a good day. It can be compressed to make it a little thinner. Seems like a good choice for a camper!

    • A. Yes you do...solid surface would be recommended..this material is fiberous and wont hold up on a regular twin bed without support. It is only 72 inches not 75 like the box says so you are going to have to make and addition of foam and cover it to make it fit. I put a piece of pillowtop foam inside the covering with the fiberous material and it is very comfortable.
