Proform TX-300 Heart Rate Monitor 3.1 5 9 9
Exactly What We Were Looking For! My husband and I were both looking for a simple product to tell us our calorie burn and heart rate to be sure we were reaching our target heart rates during exercise. This product does that and a bit more, but we haven't had the need to use the other options. The watch is not easy to navigate and the instructions aren't the best, so if you purchase this watch do not have the misconception that you are going to just put it on and go (chest strap included). Take time to read the instructions and do your best to get acquainted. Once you get it down it works perfectly fine.To think I almost bought $80 & $90 watches to do what this one does perfectly. As far as the accuracy goes, it's pretty dead on. I have a blood pressure machine and took my blood pressure and pulse rate twice after a workout and the watch and the blood pressure machine matched. For something basic this is your best bang for your buck.Happy Exercising!! 01/22/2011
Great for the money! I've had this for 3 months and think it works great! If you want HR, Zone, Calories, and Fat burned this is the perfect item (I only use it for tracking my current workout, so I don't have plan needs, etc). I have NO complaints, but one tip. If your arm sweats alot, it seems to trigger my TOUCH HR sensor....so I put a little ace bandage between the watch and my wrist to keep my excesive sweat from setting it off. But, a 2 penny fix for a very good product at a great price is well worth it. 04/01/2011
Not very reliable First of all, the product description on walmart.com is wrong. There is no touch technology that measures the heart rate by touching the watch. The heart rate is only measured by the chest strap and then communicated to the watch. The photos of the watch and chest strap are also wrong - all seem to be for a different model, but the model number matches the box that shipped to my local store. The manual is very limited - it only explains how to set up the basics (date, time, etc.) - I had to look up online how to use a chest strap, and that helped. It took about a week for me to finally get it working properly and on the settings I wanted for an entire workout, only for it to stop reading my heart rate the next day. I only used it about four or five times, and when I took off the chest strap and watch it would shut off on its own. Today I put on the chest strap and either the strap or the watch would not read my heart rate. I got it to read about three times for a few seconds. I don't see how the battery could possibly be dead already - I only worked out about an hour each time. Also, for certain moves, the chest strap does not read the heart rate very accurately - like when you are on your stomach, back, or bent over. It says my heart rate has slowed down, but when I am upright immediately after, it registers that my heart is going faster.Overall, disappointed. I thought I found a great value, but I guess you get what you pay for. Planning to return. 04/18/2011
Good value I bought this watch for myself as an early Christmas present, and I am pleasantly impressed. The watch feels solid. The display is large with a nice backlight. Once I got used to the myriad functions, it appears to work well. The chest strap is comfortable and reasonably accurate when hiking (although wildly inaccurate when sitting in the car - heart rate over 200 - the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars overall). The touch for heart rate function works very well.I made a mistake and paid an extra $3 for the 1 year service plan only to discover it comes with a 5-year warranty. Otherwise, I am very happy with my purchase. 12/25/2010
