Does a great job and what a value! Im 100% totally sold on this sharpener. The way I test if a knife is sharp is I try to slice a very ripe tomato with no downward pressure at all on the knife. I just hold the knife loosely in my hand and rock it back and forth. If it doesnt break the skin, which many of my knifes did not then its time for the sharpener. After going through the sharpener every knife slid right through the tomato with no pressure. Now with some experience ive started only using the right side of the sharpener that hones the blade. It does the trick many times with only 1 or 2 passes on each side rather than the 3 the book calls for. Buy this and you wont be dissapointed. 01/27/2008
Works as described First use took a chicago cutlery knife that has been dull for years. Those metal sharpening rods didn't do a thing but dull it more. The Presto sharpener put a razor sharp edge on it in about 8 seconds.No complaints. Can't attest to durability yet. 01/25/2008
