O gave this gift to my mom for a birthday present. SHE LOVES IT!!! The chicken tasted better. It is neat to have a charcoal filter which controlled the amount of smoke in the air. I am allergic to smoke and I was sitting very close to the "daddy" and was not affected due to the filter. It is neat to view the food frying without having to have the lid up. It is also very quite as it fries. This is a great product.

A Very Neat "Daddy"

Have only had this a week. However, we have used it several times. The amount of oil used is very minimal. We strained it after using and the amount returned to the bottle was almost as much as we put in. There was very little oil used. No greasy taste at all. The fryer is exactly as promised. Great purchase.

Great Deep Fryer

I can't rate durability as I haven't had it that long. Each time I use it though I am reinforced this was a good investment. I went online and found a french fry recipe where you cook them at a lower temp, allow them to cool, then cook them at a higher temp (Chef John's French Fries at allrecipes.com) and they are some of the best fries we've ever had. Some battered recipes it's better not to use the basket. But I'm really pleased with this appliance and would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

VERY happy

This is suppose to be a large cooker for 6 quarts. However, the instructions say not to fill with oil above a certain point and the basket is small. Therefore I find you are limited to cooking maybe 2 or 3 servings in this deep fryer. That is good for me as I only cook for myself and sometimes one other person. You may have noted a number of bad reviews where it was said the food comes out soggy and undone. That would be true if those people were not following the directions to the letter. I did follow the directions. My food was very crisp and nicely done. I felt safe while cooking with this fryer. No splattering, no messy kitchen. The appliance does stay cool to the touch and is easily cleaned. I love this deep fryer and highly recommend it.

cooking for two or three

So far, a great unit. Have used it for different types of fries and chicken tenders. Frys the very well, and not greasy at all. Unit is very easy to take apart to clean, and reassembles quickly. It is a great size for 2-3 people. The only improvement I would suggest would be to change the inner pot so it would have a small pour spout to make it less messy pouring out the oil.

Write a review, not me at all But ~~ this deep fryer is really the best I have purchase. You have to read the instructions for the best quality on how to cook the food. You want crispy: leave the Top Up!!!!. No mess, clean up is a breeze, fits neatly in counter top

Cool Daddy U Did It

I needed a new deep fryer so after plenty of research I chose this one as it said it was cool to the touch. It's not. The outside of the fryer gets hot on all sides and on the lid. My old fryer, which was a different brand, was a cool to the touch fryer and if I needed to slightly move it after I was done cooking, I could slide it without burning my hands. This one is just too hot. Another con to this unit is the plastic that it is made of feels kind of cheap but the unit is light weight. It also does not have a timer so I use my stove timer to time my foods. The pros of this unit are that it has temperature settings that I can adjust for different foods. It DOES indicate when the oil is hot with the red light on the front. The light will go off when it's ready and comes back on when it is heating back up. It comes with a removable basket, removable oil pan, a filter for the lid and a magnetic cord as well as owners manual. The basket can be lowered into the pan of oil or it can sit up above the oil. You simply depress a button on the handle to lower it down. You have to make sure the handle is inside the "track" in order to use this function. The unit is light weight without the oil and the design is nice. It's a lot smaller than my last one. It does cook the food well so I gave it three stars. I wish it really was cool to the touch as it stated but it isn't so if that is something you are adamant about, this fryer isn't what you want.

Good fryer, bad advertising

As soon as we opened the fryer it wouldnt close all the way. We then used it and when we took it apart to clean the lid still doesn't close witch is not what I would expect since the price is high. Stay away from this crap.

Comes in broken!

The looks of this deep fryer is really nice. It's easy to use and I did like the fryer having a lid, my work space did stay clean. What I didn't like was that it didn't hold the temperature of the oil. The chips that we were frying didn't get very crisp, frying them long enough to get the chips crispy, they were pretty dark. I am going to take the fryer back.
