Customer Product Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5★ by 97reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5★ by I had another one and it has lasted for many years This is a great product and built to last. It starts right up every time. I have 5 acres of land and this is my second in 10 years I finally wore the other out. Great product 04/13/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great for the money-easy to change spool OK-I'm a commercial tomato grower. I use these on a daily basis Spring to Fall. I spent almost 500. on a highend machine last year. Every time the string ran out, I had to change the whole cartridge that cost about 45.00 plus shipping. By the end of the season it cost about 600.00 for string cartridge. This cheap PP125 is a bit heavy for hours of use I give it, but with the shoulder strap, handles like a dream (I'm an older gal, so a guy might not need it.) Changing the string is a snap and super cheap to boot.It starts perfectly. I'm on my way to WalMart to buy a second PP125 so we can run 2 at once.To tell you the truth, it does the same job as the high end machine. I cant comment on how it runs after sitting all winter. But I do know from experience that anytime you store over winter you need to dump all the gas/oil you use as it just gunks up the carb if you dont. You have to use fresh gas. And I tie on a couple of heavy mil plastic bags around the motor on these over winter to keep moisture out of the engine. I keep it hung up on the wall. I also know how to clean the carb and any other fuel related things and I do this as a rule at the end of every season. If I being an older lady can do this, anyone can, believe me :) I'm not worried about it starting next season, it has a year warrantly. Oh, and make sure you get the straight arm because of the extra attachments and easier use. I have all of the attachments and they all work great. We've run this one about 300 hours. Now if only gas will go down in cost... 05/22/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Not a bad machine I bought this after my Weedeater Twist n Edge quit after 10+ years of seasonal use. Decided on this mostly because of the attachments (havent purchased any yet but will write a review when i do). I have come to know Poulan as a reasonably dependably name. As the name preceeds it, right out of the box, i couldnt ask for much more. Assembly took all of about 3 minutes with no tools and no directions. I added mixed gasoline (as recommended), it took a few pulls and a few extra pumps of the primer, i assume because it was dry. It started right up as i would expect a new machine to do. after it ran for about 20 seconds, it ran like a champ. I went right to town doing my usual trimming around trees and along a chain link fence (the line it comes with isnt bad). Seems to come to every expectation i could have for a normal duty use. The only con i noticed is that it would bog down if given full throttle from an idle, but if you work into the throttle it does just fine. Overall, a great value for the price. 05/07/2012
Rated 1 out of 5★ by Used this trimmer for one season and it quit on me at the start of the second. The price tag caught my eye but now I wish I would have shelled out for a better brand. I've tried cleaning the carb and about everything else I can think of. It will cost more to get it professionally fixed than what it's worth. Beware of this item. 04/16/2012
Rated 1 out of 5★ by Junk!!! Poor warranty Item ran through a half a spool of cord then started to bog down. Called company within two weeks of purchase and they told me to take it to an area service center. I waited two weeks to take it in. It took two and half weeks to service and then they told me a carburetor adjustment would not be covered under warranty. Adjustments are not covered after 30 days even though I called the company within two weeks. Make sure if you purchase this product you use it quickly to determine if it need adjustments. Product is made so the consumer can not adjust carburetor. Not happy will not buy Poulan again. 10/20/2012
Rated 1 out of 5★ by It seemed like a good idea at the time... After reading reviews on numerous trimmers, I decided to go with this one. BAD choice... Right out of the box it took over 30 pulls to get it started, then it would only run in the start position where the choke is on and it's held to wide open throttle. Apparently from what I have read, they set the carburetors air/fuel mixture at sea level. Well, I'm about 1800 Feet above that. You can adjust the mixture screws, but you have to but the special tool to do so. I've been a mechanic since I was 16, I even had my own Briggs and Stratton dealership and this is by far the worst product I've ever bought. It will be going back... 05/27/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Huge step up from Weed Eater junk I previously owned a WeedEater gas trimmer and this was a big step up. The weed eater would often die especially when bumping the head. I ran clean gas good mix, and cleared the carbs for winter storage, used seafoam (like all my other engines that work fine) but still the WeedEater would not run and lacked power. To be fair it's a lot smaller engine, but it shouldn't die all the time. We moved to a 1 acre lot with a fair share of trimming. I tried to keep the W.E. running and do the job but finally bit the bullet and bought the real tool. The Poulan started 3rd pull out of the box and idled perfectly. I love that the head does not turn until you use the throttle. And the motor has enough power to easily advance the line. I cut through some really thick weeds & grass effortlessly and it never died in the first 15 minute run. Where I used about 2/3 of a spool with the W.E., I only bumped the line advance 4 times doing the whole yard (Much better consevation of line). Part of that is due to the straight shaft approach angle. I'm 6'-2" and can make full use of the straight shaft and cut at a perfect angle right up to stone walls without burning up line against the stone like with the curved shaft W.E.. For me the straight shaft gives much better control. Think about that aspect if you buy cuved shaft VS straigh shaft. I have not loaded line yet, but I did take the spool out and it looks pretty easy. The WE wasn't too hard either, but with the Poulan power the line advances with one gentle tap where I had to keep bumping the WE. Some of the other brands out there look like a real pain as far as removing the spool and loading the line to prevent jamming. So, for me this was a big step up to a real trimmer. At this price point it seems to be a great value. Don't waste your money on the low end gas trimmers, especially WeedEater IMO. For pro landscaping, I don't know, I'd probably want a strap to haul it for any duration, but for home use and 10-20 minute runs, this machine does a great job. Hope it lasts because I like it! 07/29/2012
Rated 1 out of 5★ by Garbage, throw away trimmer We had bought our first house, and were obviously short on cash for 'stuff'. I knew better than to buy cheap tools, but needed to get through a summer or two. I should have followed my own advice, that I am too poor to buy cheap junk. After one year, garage kept mind you, this thing looks like if is 10 years old, as far as seals, fuel lines, etc. Bogs down badly during use. Overheats and smokes if used for more than 15 minutes. It finally quit. BTW, I take good care of my stuff, clean out carbs and drain fuel every spring, so engine does not gum up. Use compressor to blow out debris after nearly every use of my power tools. (I like stuff to last). This had no chance. Opened up the engine to see if I could repair, and its just junk, poor quality parts all around. If you can possibly afford it, save up and get a good Stihl ,Husky, or quality brand of your choice. Will save you money in the long run, since buying 3 junky trimmers is far more expensive than buying 1 quality one. 06/23/2013
