I have used chain saws on my property before and on my job as a maintenance mechanic for a school district. Our district has used a variety of equipment that is purchased at county and state bids, and my saw that I had purchased for my own personal use on my property has performed superbly. I would recommend your product not only to my friends and colleges for any tree work they may encounter but i am going to make a request that the school district that I have worked at for 16 years seriously purchase poulan products. When in a time of economic spending being watched very closely.I know that a poulan product that will perform and continue as well as my saw has, it would be in my best interest that my employer also experience such a wonderful product as I .This is why I can honestly tell you that I will be using poulan products at my home and on my job for years to come.

Unable to keep chain from loosening

I bought the saw a few years ago, unfortunately I didn't call about this problem sooner and the two year warranty ran out. The saw was used about three times and each time the chain loosened within minutes resulting in damaging the chain. Since I have to use it for a small job now I decided to go on the website to see if this was a common problem which it seemed to be. When I called the service representative he was aware of the problem and said there was a fix available but it would cost $22 since it was out of warranty. The problem seems to be with the tool free chain tightening system and the fix is to replace it with a new plate and using nuts to tighten the chain which is probably the old tried and true system. The bottom line is you have to pay for the obvious design problem or throw the saw away.

I've had mine for about 7 years now. Overall not a bad saw for the money. The biggest problem is the tool less chain adjuster. The design means you have one tightening bolt for the cover containing the chain tightener instead of two so the chain comes loose more frequently during cutting. Also you need pliers anyway to tighten / untighten the cover plus for the gas cap. Still as long as you maintain the saw it starts easy and the anti vibe handle is nice. I only use mine a couple of weeks a year so for that it is completely adequate. However if I was going to be cutting firewood on a regular basis I would be looking for about a 40-45 CC saw. Still I am satisfied with the saw for what I am using it for now.

I have had my little saw know about 6 yrs. And have put it through the wringer. I've cut hard woods that it was not designed for. Up to 16" thick. Only problem I have had with it is not wanting to start when it is really cold. I'm talking temps in the single digits. Have to bring it inside to let it warm up before starting. And the tool less chain adjuster sticks a little if the bar gets really hot. But works fine after it cools down. Still have the original bar the only paint that has worn off is the logo. A great little saw at any price. Never been tuned just replaced the spark plug and cleaned the filter and it continues to preform great.

Bought this saw 3 years ago to replace a Poulan Super Countervibe 25 that was tired after 20 years. This new saw is more user friendly, to a point. Less fatigue after longer use, easy start, slightly less power than older saw. Here's what I hate: After the saw gets warm from running, you need channel locks to remove the oil fill cap and gas cap when refueling. You also need pliers to loosen the "no tool" chain adjuster. For anything bigger than 8", I need to retighten the chain 4 times per tank of fuel. If you are felling a tree, the chain will come off before you'll see it is loose. Bought a 20" Stihl for the big work.
