Polk Audio HitMaster - Powered Stage Monitor Loudspeaker for Music and Gaming - Compatible with iPod, PS3, Xbox, or Wii 4.7 5 102 115
AMAZING First for $39.99 USD, this is a catch. Second, I was a bit skeptical about something this cheap (price that is), but when I hooked it up to my PS3(sound settings->Audio output settings) and used it for games, music, and movies, it is AMAZING to say the least. I cannot turn it up past halfway because I have neighbors :) I have it at below halfway and the base is thumping! I got a 3.5 mm- male/male- jack for my Ipod and laptop also. The shipping was very fast (received 2 days after order). If you don't have neighbors like me, then you are one of those who will enjoy the product to its MAX. Setup is beyond easy. 11/27/2010
AWESOME, BANGIN' SPEAKERS Been on the market for a while for a couple of good stage monitors for my DJ set-up at home, I was very surprised as my search ended when I came across these here on Walmart's website. After reading endless rave reviews about the Hitmaster, I was definitely sold. I must say that you will get more for your money with this thing than any other audio loudspeaker device out there for use with any of mandkind's various modern (or obsolete) electronics, even cassette walkmans.I'm no gamer. But I can imagine the level of experience this thing would bring to any video game, especially Guitar Hero and Rockband, oooh, and DJ Hero! But I've hooked up my turntables and mixer to this thing and dude, does this thing sound AWESOME! With respect to neighboring apartments, I've only cranked the thing up 8 notches (for like 5 minutes). But with my mixer adjusted to optimized levels, the Hitmaster delivered crisp highs, clear vocal and instrumental mids (hand percussion sounds great!), and room-filling lows.To make it even more awesome, I daisy chained a Sony 10" self-powered subwoofer to it so now it's more than awesome! Then, I thought for the price, might as well order another. So now the system is just BANGIN' dude with two Hitmasters and the Sony sub.I gotta keep the volume level down so I don't hear any complaints from the neighbors. But these'll be great for house parties, BBQ'n with friends, and pool parties! They sound superb, built like a MACK truck, super portable, and if you peel off the HitMaster sticker, they look great! Can't wait to take 'em to a friend's house and actually try them out with some Rockband or DJ Hero action!Order yours today! 01/22/2011
Very Cool Bought many products but this is my first review. Thought I should 'cause this is a winner especially for the price right now. $40 bucks when other stores start at 70. Bought 2 of them for X-mas presents and one for myself because I have a digitial piano with no amp. Never expected it to work so well. Currently connected to my desktop PC/HDTV. Better than my $80 desktop speakers. More bass = more fun. I can imagine it working great for game systems. Works awesome with my sansa clip mp3 player. I think the best part is the value. Would still buy one at 70 but luckily don't have to. Great buy if you're not an audio geek or have a small apt with noise tolerant neighbors. 11/16/2010
Good, but not as great as some say. Like almost everyone else here, I picked this up for $40 knowing that if it was half as good as people say, I'd be a steal.Yes, it is over half as good as people say, but not without problems.First, depending on where you look, this thing is rated at either 60W, 80W, or ever 100W. From what I've seen, it's 60 at 1% distortion and 80 at 10%. Rating at 10% distortion isn't helpful, since you wouldn't want to listen to it with that much distortion.I have a 25 year old Roland keyboard amp rated at 60 watts, and side by side, the Hitmaster sounds weak. The Hitmaster doesn't sound bad, it's just that Polk seems to be fudging the numbers a bit. Still, it's louder than any TV speakers I've ever heard and more than enough for most indoor uses.Judging it on its own merits, there's a lot of bass and a lot of treble, but not enough mid-range for my taste. I like a flat response and these are "pre-EQ'd" for kids. Very sweet sounding with punchy bass. I guess that's what's popular today and since this is aimed at kids playing Rock Band, it's what you'd expect. If you're looking for a speaker that actually puts out an honest 80 watts and has a flat response, you won't find it here. What you will find is a fairly loud, cheap speaker that's balanced the way a lot of people like it. Do you listen to pop, rock, or country? This is for you. Do you listen to classical, jazz, or progressive? Not for you.My kids like it and they'll get a lot of use out of it, so it was money well spent. 01/05/2011
