My son loves this toy! He got it for his 1st birthday and is 17 months now. At first he just watched it when we pushed the button and wanted to watch it all the time. Finally, he learned to start it himself which was a double edged sword. We didn't have to start it for him anymore, but he plays it ALL the time. But he is happy and that is what really matters. :) It is a little loud, but so are most of his toys. (He loves things that make noise.) He puts stuff in it other than the balls it comes with which make it not work, but so far it's just been small things that I am able to easily shake out. We've replaced the batteries twice in 5 months, but as I said, he plays with it ALL the time. He loves to chase the balls around and I love that he seems to be learning to put things back where they come from (I caught him putting his blocks away the other day!). All in all, this toy causes smiles and laughter in my house and I consider that worth any annoying qualities it has.

I have a 4 yo, 3yo, and an 8month old. The two oldest played with this toy everyday until they were well over two years old. I did have to do quite a bit of retrieving, but they thought it was hilarious and it gave me a reason to get off my butt. I also found multiple items shoved down the tube, sometimes funny ones and sometimes gross. My son even poured milk down the tube. It still functioned perfectly. We handed down our first one. I'm now purchasing a second one for our surprise baby and I'm sure the older kids will have a blast retrieving the balls until the baby is old enough to run after them. Not exactly an educational toy, but an active one. Just keep an eye on what gets put into it, or keep it on a shelf until it's time to play.

My son is 15 months old and loves this toy but he also loves shoving anything that will fit down the hole in the top. Because the tube is curved - you can't simply turn it upside down and shake out the items that don't belong there. The only way to remove the misc. items is to take the toy apart screw by screw or by using a wire coat hanger to flush out the items. The hole is big enough to hold little people, matchbox cars, misc. sized blocks, and balls from other toys. I've even found granola bars, cheerios, and a fork in the tube. We recently visited a friend who has the same toy for their daughter and found a barbie in the tube. It seems anything and everything that will fit goes in the hole. Maybe a better choice for an older child who understands that only the balls that come with the toy go in there. The balls also don't stay in the funnel - the air pushes them out and they fly all around the room. My son likes chasing them around and putting them back in - but so does the dog. So I really don't think this is a problem as long as you know the balls won't stay right around the toy.

    Eats Batteries!

My son was a year old when we got this for him and it looked fun. As previous reviewers have said this toy is annoyingly loud and we have alot of musical toys. Forget anyone sleeping or watching tv if you have this on, and it is not just the music the motor that powers it is loud. I could forgive that but after about 10 days it didn't have enough juice to blow the balls up which do fly everywhere. Luckily I also have a 11 year old who chased the balls for his brother. At $5.95 for D batteries ( it takes 4) it costs almost half as much as the dumb toy. Lastly yes, this is not a shape sorter but it seems from other reviews this is commonly tried by the kids. My son has jammed hot wheels, blocks you name it into the opening and we were able to tip it and get them out but yuk there is dirt in there now I cannot get out. Save your money and try something else! I saved the box this is going back to the store!

While this toy is entertaining, the music and blower were too loud and it required larger batteries, which it went through rather quickly.
