Don't listen to others! I purchased this product despite reading the poor reviews, because I have always known Tonka to make quality toys. Well, when I first put the batteries in, it did not work, but I forgot that it took six batteries instead of just the three. So I read the instructions and added the other three. As parents we think we can just put things together without reading...sometimes that's not good! So after making sure all six batteries were in the car, and the 9V in the controller the car wouldn't go forward but it went backwards. Once again, I read the directions, and found that if I turned the car off for five minutes I could reset it and try again. I did that and the car worked just fine. It flipped all over the place, and ran over almost anything! If it sits idol for a while you have to cut it off, and back on, but it's just fine. Also, there was times when I had it going over teddy bears and other toys, the toy would rub against the off button on the car, and you had to turn it back on, but we had a lot of fun with it on Christmas morning! I highly recommend this toy, and my son's both 2 and 5 love it! 12/25/2008
DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT NOT WORTH IT My son got this toy for his birthday we got it home and u had to be almost on top of it for it to work. this is not worth the money I would not recomend this product to anyone 12/13/2008
Give It a Chance! I too, despite all the horrible reviews, bit the bullet and purchased 2 of these for my boys (5 & 3). My husband and I struggle the way most of the reviews described. Put the batteries in let them sit. Tried different batteries to no avail. Finally I removed all the batteries then reinstalled slowly. I laced the ribbon between the 2 AA batt that fit together. I believe the trick is getting them all pushed into place tightly. They must be snuggly pushed down or you will have no power. Also if the kids keep pushing the remote button and the car quits, turn it off and let it set a few minutes then its fine.I love the soft contruction, they don't tear the house up or other toys. They appear to be pretty durable (my boys are rough on toys!!) They are relatively quiet which is a plus. My boys love them! They occasion have a little interferance when they run them at the same time but I think that is to be expected. Overall we are satisfied with our purchase. 04/19/2009
Recommend To All Parents I tried & tired to catch this product online and it always said OUT OF STOCK.. I recommend you try the store also in searching for this toy.. I Did all that searching just to find the toy in the store.. The toy is bigger then it appears in the ads, which we liked. Cant wait until our son opens his present on xmas day.. 11/23/2008
