The rests hold the rifle loosely. You could find it helpful but there is no way to adjust for elevation. A rest that is more stable and/or holds the rifle more securely would be better. This item was designed to hold rifles while cleaning.

I would not but it could be if it s that or nothing else

I purchase this same gun box about 8 months ago through another online supplier for around $40 with shipping. I have been very satisfied with the use of the item. The gun rest are difficult to pop in place the first time I used it, but now I have no problems placing and removing the rests once I was accustom to doing it. The box has a lot of room for storage of gun cleaning items and a tray for small items. I liked the box well enough to purchase a second box to carry my bench rest equipment in. When the box is closed there is a place were you can put a pad lock to prevent unauthized access. I use a clip ring in place of the lock for extra security to prevent the lid from opening when I pick up or carry the box. In the box I use for my benchrest equipment I cut a 3/8" piece of plywood to fit in the bottom of the box. This not only provided extra support but also allowed me to secure the rest in place. I felt the extra surpport was needed because the benchrest weights approximately 18 lbs. The plywood helped to distribute the weight load better. The second box was purchased through Wal-Mart.com. They have the lowest price I have found on this item.

and larger. I am very happy with this purchase, all my cleaning supplies and range tool easly fit in this box. Well worth the money. I received it in 2 days also.

Much better that expected ....

I purchased this storage box to meet my need not only for storage,but also to serve as my range box and found it too be an exceptional value. It holds all my cleaning gear as well as extra ammo and the rifle clamps were easy to install if you read the instructions properly. Overall very satisfied with the performance and functionality of the product

Great range box

Picked up my Plano XL gun cleaning box 3 days ago. I own several rifles and this box is a fantastic station for all purpose. Enough space for most my cleaning supplies and gunsmithing tools, steady enough for sighting laser to match scope, strong enough to sit or stand on if needed.

I have a lot of rifles and need a good field stand to clean or work on tem.
This product is just what I needed to do this. fits my 22 to my 7.62x54.

grate for my 7.62 and my 38/357 rifles

Nice box with enough room to hold the main supply's for cleaning my rifles. The down side is the parts for the rifle rest take up a lot of room. I store them outside the box. Seems like it would last as long as any Plano tackle box.

Good tool box

Overall a very sound product. With the exception of the gun rest. They do not like to stay in place and are wiggly when mounted to box. Other than that a good product.

good size for youre gunner needs

I really enjoy all the room and the large tray. Plenty sturdy enough. Room for all my cleaning gear and the gun holders were what really sold me until I tried using them. First, they take up a huge amount of space to store and don't fit comfortably anywhere in the box. Second, they are extremely hard to install. Third, you cannot leave the tray in or have the lid closed when using them. If they would have just had them attached to the outside and fold up and down and lock into place, they would have had a winner.

Large and Roomy, but rifle mounts are a problem

At first I thought the product was in excellent condition when it arrived. Upon opening the lid I discovered that the right rear hinge was kind of malformed did not function properly. I had to use a hair dryer on high heat in order to mold it correctly. Now everything appears to be working fine and I am very happy with the gun cleaning case. I would still recommend this product, just check for Quality when it arrives
