    Does The Work

The Philips GoGear 2GB MP3 is really nice. I have had this product for about a month and a half. The sound quality is not the best out there but i deal with it. Pictures don't look so bad but i prefer using my PSP for that matter. Video is good too, but again i prefer not to watch them in the philips GoGear. The goods about this product are that it sounds pretty good, it's small, last long enough and does what i wanted it for. What irritates me is that sometimes when i try to change the EQ setting it just froze and i had to reset the player ( that happened 2 times). Another thing is that the shuffle doesn't work well. Let' s say you play a song and you would expect the player to choose something that is not after the current song, you would be wrong. What it does is that it plays 3 or 4 songs one after another, like the shuffle option was off, and then choose a whole different song. The bottom line is that if you just want something to listen to when you are out or working out, thePhilips GoGear 2GB MP3 would do it.

This product is not worth it. Downloading videos on it isn't easy, you have to use the converter that is provided...or at least it claims it is provided. I have my own and it would not allow me to play them despite being in the correct format. Downloading music is fairly easy but you can't create any play lists. You can try to make folders to organize your music...but guess what, the player does not recognize them. In order to put music into folder you have to manually change the genre on the file itself before you move it to the player or number the music to the order you want it on your computer BEFORE you move it to the mp3 players. It also has the most annoying on/off button ever. The on/off button is also the play/pause button so if you don't hold it just right...well, yea, its really really irritating. I had a Creative Zen and I gave it to my boyfriend when I got this mp3 player and I really regret it. I want my cheapo Zen back, it was so much better than this horrible device.

due for a trip abroad, i searched for a player that would keep me company on the long flights. this mp3 player looks good in the package, especially when you consider the price. when i got it out of the box and tried it, the sound was better than expected. the problems started when the unit suddenly powered off barely a week after purchase while playing on a full battery charge. it would power on but turn off again, displaying a "locked" sign. frantic, i searched online for answers. i tried the website solutions. nothing worked. i emailed philips support and they emailed back saying i have to call their customer care number. i called philips long distance to inquire about the problem and the philips support lady said there were compatibility issues with windows media player 11. i should use version 10 and that would solve the problem. so i reset my mp3 and installed version 10 on my PC. no, it didnt work. this product brought me more irritation than enjoyment. it's not working up to now. save yourself the hassle.

First, this product is not an iPod, so don't expect it to work with iTunes. The whole reason I wanted a normal "MP3" player was so i wouldn't have to deal with iTunes. I wanted a device that would act like a hard drive when I attached it to my PC. This one does that well. This product does not support folders, so if that is an issue, you may want to pay more for one that has that feature. The headphones, like most supplied with other players, are not that great. Resolution is to buy other phones, or pay more money for a better setup. With good phones, this Phillips unit sounds great. It even sounds pretty good with the supplied headphones. I have 200 mp3's loaded on mine and it does scroll through the songs a little slow. If you are one who wants to scroll through a lot of songs quickly, pay more for a unit that can handle the speed. I have not loaded any videos so I can't comment on the versatility of doing so. The FM radio picks up well in my area.

i have always wandered, with today's technology, how come a little mp3 costs over $30? i mean, we have computers, rockets, airplanes. how come mp3s and ipods are prced high, its not like they are new to technology or something? anyway, i hate listing to music with it, when i dont see much else to use it for, im not going to put 4000 photos on it, or movie or something, but anyway, if you move the headphones just a bit the sound stops. the radio doesnt always come in, but when it does it works amazingly. i am impressed with the radio connection. but, i won this from a sschool for having stright a's, and im not even going to complian about a free mp3, i just wish it would work for me! please... and also, i am trying to plug it into the computer, and the computer doesnt even know its plugged in, and when you move the usb cord, the mp3 turns on, and i hate it when mp3s turn on when you unplug them from the computer..

I love this MP3 player. I just wanted a player to listen to music while I run. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a MP3 player. This was a perfect fit and I love it's features for the price. Music, pictures, video, radio, etc. I like how simple it is to work the controls and menu on the player. I have had no trouble with it at all. My head phones wore out this week...after 8 months. But I use this player daily and wrap the head phone wire around the player when I'm not using it...so the wear and tear got to it. But I bought another pair of simple headphones and it's good to go. I have tons of songs on it!!! I can never listen to them all during a complete run. It is also very easy to load tunes from itunes, onto the mp3 player...which in the past I have had players that had difficulty with that. If you don't want to spend a ton of money on an MP3 player like IPOD...I recommend this one.

I bought this product mainly for the purpose of listening to music in my car. I was able to download songs, the next day when I used it and arrived at work I could not turn it off it was like frozen it stayed on the same screen for hours I keep trying to cut it off throughout the day then I gave up. After work I checked it the screen was black I could not turn it on, so I got home and plugged it in my computer and it came on. I really didn't pay that much attention and thought it was a glitch. The next day it worked in the car and I was able to turn it off, I was happy. The following work day it would not cut off..... when I got to work the same thing happened. I was very angry.. I had not even owned this thing for 5 days and it's already malfunctioning. You would think that during the test period of marketing this product that would have showed up. I am returning it tomorrow!!!

    Excellent buy for a low-end MP3 Player

Great little MP3 and video player for the price! It's very easy to operate, and you can use Windows Explorer or Windows Media Player to add/remove music. You can also rip a CD and "sync" via Windows Media Player. It supports MP3 and WMA audio format. However, the product does state that it does not support Digital Rights Management music (most low-end MP3 players don't). So, if you use Windows Media Player, be sure to turn off copy protection on the "rip" settings. It doesn't support Apple's proprietary AAC audio format, but most non-Apple players don't, so that's not really an issue. If you download from itunes, you have to choose DRM-free MP3 format music. Another nice feature is the ability to store JPEG images and create slide shows. Video ability is limited to Philip's format, but they include software to convert MPEG and other common video formats to theirs. The built in FM radio and voice recorder are nice extras not found on many low-end MP3 devices. Philip's device manager software makes firmware updates easy. The manual is well written, and their online support and FAQ section were also very helpful. Given that the unit is almost half the price of an IPOD Shuffle and can play video (a feature only available if you step up to an IPOD Nano), it's a fantastic buy!

    Possessed Phillips?

I've had my Phillips mp3 player for approximately 4 weeks now and have become somewhat familiar with its function. Overall, I'm not pleased. I was, however, pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to load -- just use Windows Explorer and drop and drag them to your Phillips directory. But that's where it ends. The shuffle feature did not shuffle through the 250 odd songs I had loaded. As a matter of fact, it only played a few songs and then repeated them over and over again. I also began noticing several of the songs "skipping." At first I thought it was from the CD's I ripped, but as weeks progressed, I noticed more and more songs doing the same thing. Then entire songs began missing. Then albums started including songs from other albums. I'm beginning to think my little Phillips is POSSESSED? Needless to say, I will be returning my Phillips to Wal-Mart for a refund.
