Broken and expired manufacturer's warranty

The Blue ray player we received would not play any DVD. After loading a DVD and selecting play the player would make a grinding sound and would not play DVDS . We contacted the manufacturer and we were told that the warranty period for the player was expired!. the player was over one year old at the time of purchase. We returned the player to the Vestal Walmart store. Instead of having our credit card reimbursed we took a money gift card and purchased a more expensive Sony blue ray player from Sam's Club. to use the gift card we had to renew our membership at a cost of forty dollars. It cost us a little over $160.00 dollars to replace a player that we originally bought on line for $89.00 dollars. The reason for buying the player at Sam's was because the special connection cable was included with the player. The exact same make player did not have this cable at Walmart!. The cable alone costs $ 50.00 dollars at Walmart. I wont make any more purchases on line from the Walmart store.

My new boyfriend mentioned he wanted a blu ray player. Hence the word new, I didn't want to go way out. It was a nice gift for the price and he happens to love it. I plan to purchase this gift for a few other people.

Once again less than 48 hrs from order to door! can't say enough about the picture, Blu-Ray is great, and my DVD's upgraded to 1080P are hard to tell from Blu-Ray. A little slow on start-up but when it gets going(5-6 sec.) plays without any jerks or freezes. My TV. is online so have not tried that. But I don't see why the picture wouldn't be smooth and clear.

All is well so far. This unit works just fine. The picture is so clear, I had to bring my actual family in for an upgrade. :-0

Needed to replace my old dvd player and decided to go with a blu ray. Have had several Philips products and they have always worked well. The system is pretty slow. Some dvds do something weird with the subtitles at times. Does not read video files off SD card and has no flash or usb slot. Would not have purchased if I had time to look for another better product.
