Philips BDP5010/F7 BD Live Blu-ray Disc Player 34 45
No frills! This player does exactly what the purpose of it is...it plays blu-rays. For the price, I am pleased with the picture quality but don't expect any extra features like streaming netflix or pandora because this player doesn't have those capabilities. If you're looking for an affordable player and don't have many blu-rays (like me) then this is perfect for you. 08/21/2010
Works like a charm. Inexpensive and have two of them in the house now. Dont have them hooked up to computers, but they do the job with out all the bells and whistles. If you just want to watch Blu Ray and reg dvds or cds. cant go wrong at all with this player. 10/05/2010
Cheap Blu-Ray Player Turned Expensive Paperweight We were looking for an affordable Blu-Ray player at Christmas when I purchased this one. At first glance it was by far the best deal. We hooked it up the first night and it played a couple of Blu-Rays fine, except for the load time being a little longer than normal and volume being very low even at max. The next night it would not load any Blu-Rays, instead saying "Playback feature not available on this disk." We contacted Philips customer service about the problem and they said "When we originally made the player, Blu-Rays did not have so much information. Now it will require an SD card to play the discs." So still feeling it was the best deal we went to the store to pick up an SD card. After installing the SD card at home it still wouldn't play. We hooked the player to the internet to try to install firmware updates and program the SD card, still nothing. We contacted customer service a second time and they said it should be a certain brand of SD and certain type we couldn't find.Finally having enough, we took it back to the local Wal-Mart and exchanged it for a Samsung model that we have not had a single problem with. It loads discs MUCH faster and the volume works fine. Best of all, it ACTUALLY plays new Blu-Rays. In other words, it does what it says it is supposed to do when you buy it without jumping through hoops. Avoid this model unless you enjoy making repeated trips to Wal-Mart. In my opinion, if Philips had any integrity they would pull this item from the shelves and make the upgrades themselves instead of leaving the customers to do the dirty work to make an inferior product actually operate. 01/11/2011
Great for the price! I am really happy with this we have had it for a few weeks and have stopped using our reg DVD player...quality is AMAZING!! Just don't use site to store we did and it took almost a month from when I ordered it. Don't save the few bucks for free shipping to store ship it to yourself. Ours sat in a warehouse for 3 days. 08/09/2010
