Per the instructions that come in the package, this is not recommended for animals that are prone to chewing or digging their way out of containers. It's pretty sturdy and well-built, but if he really wants to get out, he will. If he's fairly docile and happy to have a warm, quiet place to sleep, he'll most likely be fine.

If your dog doesn't try to chew through the mesh. I use mine for travel and leave the door open for my puppy to sleep in at night. I have ordered a metal crate for overnight use.

Yeah. my puppy (a yorkie) sleeps in it at night and he has no problems. I just put his blanket in the bottom to make it more comfortable for him.

Barney is a 4 1/2 lb dog and great for him. gets in and turns around in it by himself.

Maybe if he did not chew a lot. This would be destroyed very quickly by any dog that likes to chew because it's fabric and soft-sided, with some mesh pieces, not metal or plastic.

It is a very good night crate. My pup is happy to be in it. He came from Arizona to Northern Nevada and the canvas sides help him to stay warm. He has plenty of room to turn around and stretch out, but not to his full length. He uses it with no hesitation even when he needs a nap in the daytime. He is a 9lb, 5mo old Russell terrier.

If your dog has been crate trained and doesn't typically scratch, bite, tear at the crate it would be just fine.

Is this a good night grate for a small dog.

No. It does not bend in that manner. It only folds up into a large flatter type piece for storage but it cannot be wadded up and put in a washer like a piece of fabric.

It could be hosed off and out or use a pressure washer if needed. The frame wouldn't come out for washing in a washing machine.

No, not machine washable. We vaccum the inside with an attachment. If your pet has an "accident" in the carrier I would recomment wiping it out with an antibacterial wet wipe.

I would not recommend washing in a machine, but a scrub brush and a water hose or shower sprayer works great!!

I purchased the medium and it does not have handles like the small however it is very easy to pick up by the edges of the frame.

There are no handles or straps for either the large or medium crate. It's light weight, easy to assemble and take with me.

There are no handles, but the top has a zippered opening big enough to put a 15 lb dog through it. The bottom is only "cloth" so there would be no support.

I'm almost positive all the sizes (sm, med, and large) have the handles in the same place. They are on the side tops and velcro together for a sturdy hold

For the medium size the handles are on either side at the bottom.

According to the manufacturer, Petnation, the handles only come on the E16 and E20 which is small. All others medium and large have no handles as it would not be strong enough to hold the animal.

I needed a soft crate for the back of the truck so I can take my 2 dogs on a three day trip in winter. (the truck has a canopy and is carpeted, but no heat back there) I think this one will work just fine. The dogs have already gone in and settled into it. I like the canvas sides and top for a little extra warmth. (I would have put my wire crate in, but it will be too heavy to move in and out and doesn't have any sides to keep them warmer) It also has 4 grommeted tabs on the base, so I can somewhat secure it. All in all, I think it is a good product. I would get one for the smaller dog too, but I think they will probably end up in this one together, for warmth and companionship.

Good Price and quality

I have used the small version of this crate as my cat carrier for years and have recommended it to countless others. My cat LOVES her small Petnation crate. It is her house, her bed, her favorite hangout spot. A few years back, my boyfriend bought both the small and extra large versions for his cat; since he RVs, it's nice to have a larger enclosure for the cat so she can go out a little at RV parks. She loves it, too.
Recently, I adopted an older dog with some bladder issues, mostly stress-related from being in the shelter. I ordered the extra large for her in case I need to crate her if the bladder issues do not resolve and aren't fully addressed with diapers when we travel. My cat has already adopted it as a "vacation home", and one of my other dogs loves hanging out in it as well. The intended resident only goes in when I go in with her, but she does not fear it. So we're off to a great start.
The construction of these crates is excellent. They are very durable. NOT intended for animals with extreme anxiety or for aggressive animals, mind you. These crates are perfect for calm animals and for travel; my cat rides in hers across the continental US several times each year. They fold flat and take up no space at all. The mesh on the "windows" and front zipper flap is as advertised, extra strong. Zippers are solid and are also easily secured shut using a clip or small padlock. The funky new plastic smell dissipates quickly. Handles on the small model are perfectly balanced for carrying. And even though I'm not a Walmart shopper, Walmart is the only place to order these crates because they cost at least double everywhere else. Excellent product, and excellent value for the price.

playpen for small pets, comfort zone for larger

My cat is 16 inches long and weighs 18 lbs, she loves this! I was worried it would be to small for her or she would fall out the bottom but when i got it and put her in she fit fine! I put her favorite blanket in the bottom of it for her to feel extra safe and not to feel her paws threw the bottom of it! :)

Bought the medium size one, for my 3 little dogs to snuggle and keep warm in, while we were playing in the SnoBall softball tourney. It was perfect, with their warm crate pad and blanket, the 3 of them stayed warm and dry, while being outside in the snow. At times, I wished I could have climbed inside with them, they looked so warm and cozy, lol. And now, I'm going to use it for a whelping bed/kennel for my little pregnant female, so she and her new pups will have a safe haven away from the other animals, yet still be able to be in her familiar environment around them all. My dogs have never been in a crate or kennel, until I bought this for them to keep warm in at the SnoBall Tourney. They liked it so much (especially my pregnant one), that I know she's gonna feel content and safe having her puppies in it. And it sets up/breaks down in less than a minute, and is light weight and easy to carry with the handle. LOVE this product!!!
