Ewww! I had to pull a tick out of my dogs ear today! My dog is 6+ years old and had been on Frontline Plus for his whole life; except for the last four months. I started him on PetArmor Plus after seeing the ads that it was the exact same product for half the price. After two months I finally had enough courage to tell my veterinarian about it and was warned/advised that it was not the same formula. Not only not the same formula, but was not made or stored the same way as Frontline Plus either. Sometimes we have to learn our lessons the hard way!!! My dog is my family, and I am hoping to God that that darn tick didn't give Archie lyme disease! When he was on Frontline Plus, the only ticks I found on his body were dead; and that was for almost 6 years! I hope this review is not removed from this review blog because people need to know that PetArmor Plus does not work!!! Hope this review helps dog and cat lovers everywhere in North America...you get what you pay for!!! ~LuvnCdn

I've used frontline for years. I compared this to the purple frontline I had been using and the ingredients are all identical. My Dog suffers from Flea Bite Dermatitis, and this is a life saver. Still no fleas, 2 weeks and counting. After I'm through with this 3 month supply I'll write a follow-up review.

I bought this product several days ago, and in less than a day, fleas started disappearing from my dogs. A few days later, they were completely flea free. I have seen some negative comments on this product, by people that swear by Frontline Plus, saying things like it's not the same thing, and generic forms are dangerous; but it has done the same exact thing for my dogs, and is only half the costs. I also read that it may cause irritation at the application spot, but neither of my dogs, have had any irritation at all, just lazy scratch free days since. I love it.

PetArmor contains the exact same ingredients in the exact same percentages of medication contained in Frontline Plus. I've been using the product for the last couple of months and have been satisfied with it. I am involved in animal rescue and flea control is extremely important and generally very expensive. I've not had an issue with fleas since. I question those who are giving negative reviews. I wonder if they ever checked their pets for fleas/ticks when they were using 'name brand' products. The only thing that MAY be different in this product are the 'inert' ingredients which at most may cause an allergic reaction (i.e. loss of hair at application spot) but would not impact the effectiveness of the primary ingredients. I'm in a very wooded area where fleas and ticks are prevalent. I've not found either on my cats or dogs. It's worth a try.

I am just wondering if the active ingredient in PetArmor (Fipornil) is the same dosage as in the Frontline Plus? i know that many items that become available to purchase w/o script are not as strong. does anyone know if they share the same active dosage and the same waterproof abilities? Frontlne Plus has worked for my dogs and cats for years, just very expensive. thanks for any help.

  • A. That is what I understand from the package. I assume the patent has run out on FrontLine so the generics are now showing up.

  • A. I am looking right now at both a box of Frontline Plus and a box of the PetArmor Plus I just purchased. Both boxes have the exact same active ingredients (Fipronil and (s)methoprene) in the exact same percentages (9.8%and8.8% respectively). In fact, the PetArmor+ box has this highlighted, and includes a sticker stating,"same active ingredients as Frontline Plus." I, too, have used Frontline Plus for 8 years with great success. The only reason I decided to try this product was because I could not find Frontline+ on sale anywhere when I needed it. I must say, I am 100% pleased with the product, and will continue to use instead of Frontline. I even like the vial on the PetArmor+ better!
