Jack Reacher.
The ultimate loner.
An elite ex-military cop who left the service years ago, he's moved from place to place...without family...without possessions...without commitments.
And without fear. Which is good, because trouble--big, violent, complicated trouble--finds Reacher wherever he goes. And when trouble finds him, Reacher does not quit, not once...not ever.
But some unfinished business has now found Reacher. And Reacher is a man who hates unfinished business.
Ten years ago, a key investigation went sour and someone got away with murder. Now a chance encounter brings it all back. Now Reacher sees his one last shot. Some would call it vengeance. Some would call it redemption. Reacher would call it...justice.

Reviews

Review by Library Journal (2003-04-01)

A cross between a modern-day John Wayne and a much younger Clint Eastwood, Jack Reacher is back in this eighth adventure, and fans will be delighted. A retired army major who served as an MP and criminal investigator, Reacher roams the United States and invariably runs across a major crime or terrorist incident that requires him to "put things right", albeit in his own unique and violent way. Here he discovers a diabolical enemy whom he thought a decade dead, as well as a major smuggler and his sadistic bodyguard living in a gothic horror of a mansion overlooking the sea.

Reacher allies himself with a band of FBI agents who want to bring down the bad guys and find one of their own who's missing. Persuader includes a number of intriguing plot twists, and Reacher always finds himself in tense, tight, and exciting situations. Intelligently written, Child's latest thriller is recommended for most popular fiction collections.

Rated 5 out of 5★ by 3reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Lee Child is a great writer. Jack Reacher books never let you down. 03/02/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Fantastic Novel. This is the first book of Lee Child's that I have read. Never even heard of him before. But such EXCELLENT writing--I could not put it down! I am now thoroughly looking forward to all of the preceding Reacher books as well as any others released since Persuader. This book is written so well, I really don't feel that reading the series out of order will make any difference. Just as this book allows the reader to travel time throughout, I think the sequence in which one reads the novels will probably allow the same thing! Although I will make an attempt to acquire these books in order, it really does not matter as I feel anything I find by Lee Child's will be anything but a disappointment. I highly recommend this novel. 09/12/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★ by I LOVE Jack Reacher! This is another great story by Lee Child. Jack Reacher is a wonderful character. He only knows Right is Right and Wrong is Wrong and then he takes care of the wrong. A real page-turner, I couldn't put it down till I read the whole thing. I've read nearly every Lee Child book and I love them all. We need more "Jack Reachers" in this world!! Keep 'em coming Lee Child! 01/24/2014
