As soon as you open the bag you can taste the rich smell. I also like that it has a fine grind. I like strong coffee's and this coffee definitely suits my taste. Although the directions call for 2 tablespoons per 6 ounces of water, I feel that would be too strong even for my taste, unless you are planning on using it to make iced coffee. I have always used 1 heaping tablespoon per 6 ounces, so my review is based on that recipe. It has a nice strong flavor but does not leave a bitter taste in your mouth. I will definitely buy it again.

Peets Major Dickason works well with my espresso machine with its built-in grinder. The coffee tastes amazing.

I've tried dark roast beans from LOTS of vendors, and I always come back to Major Dickason.  These beans check all the boxes: tasty, smooth, aromatic, low-acid.

The Gold Standard

Be a subscriber then you will get a package with a Roast Date printed on the side bottom. This means you will get freshly roasted beans within 10 days after roasting. Supermarket package no longer has a roast date, only an expiration date… about 3 months from roasting. Once you have freshly roasted beans there is no going back to Supermarket shelves for coffee.

It boils down to taste buds, that's why Peet's sells a variety flavors and strengths to satisfy different tastes. My taste buds, by far, favor Peet's Major Dickason's blend,

Taste Buds Rule

I don't drink coffee as often as the normal coffee drinker. That's probably why I'm pretty picky about what blends and brands I drink. For instance, I don't think Starbucks is worth all the hype (yea, stone me now). It's OK but not amazing. I personally love my local brand Mello Joy. However, after tasting Peet's, I've become a traitor - it is pretty amazing.

Not knowing what to expect (as it goes when ordering products online) once I opened my box and smelled the coffee's aroma, I knew this coffee would be good. As it brewed, the house was filled with that rich coffee fragrance. I don't drink my coffee black but I hate weak coffee. It definitely wasn't that. Peet's brewed strong and dark. This blend is rich and complex. As you drink it, the flavors give way to different layers. It is supposed to be a breakfast blend, but honestly I like it throughout the day. It is a great dessert coffee as well. Black, or with milk, or with sugar, or with my favorite pairing - caramel macchiato creamer, it will delight your tastebuds.
