I am always on the look out for a quality cutting board. I bought this in our local Wal-Mart store one day when I was just browsing. The deep wood color and the beautiful wood grains caught my eye, so I walked back to take a good look. I bought it! I have had the board for several months. It is super easy to clean, does not mar or knick easily. I LOVE IT! I occasionally wipe both sides with food grade mineral oil or other food grade oil for cutting boards. This one will last a lifetime! The Best! Thank you Wal-Mart and THANK YOU, Paul, for making such a great product!

It is a beautiful piece of wood and the markings are clear. A suggestion on the wrapper as to whether it works better with a bit of flour or non-stick spray would help.

    Beautiful Acacia Wood board

Perfect for our kitchen. My wife loves the mixed color gold-to-chocolate colors of Acacia. We needed a replacement board for the slide-in cutting board built into our cabinets. It was coincidentally 20" wide by 18" deep and 3/4" in thickness. Perfect! Ironically this board is actually 22" x 18" x 3/4" (though advertised as 20"x18"... duh!). No problem though, trimmed aprox. 1" from each side on table saw... leaving the Paula Dean Pie Notes unscathed. That also got rid of the 1/2" radius corners. Having cut-to-fit as a tight 2O" x 18"... I only had to apply a little cold candle wax to the edges to reduce friction and affect a perfect slide-in installation. Plus... it's reversible one side for pie making... remove and reverse for cutting board/food prep. Voila... a custom install and a very happy wife!

This piece is really lovely on my counter top. Of course, it is also very good at its functional purpose - I roll tortillas on it at least twice a week.

I purchased one for me and was so pleased with it that I bought 2 others for gifts at Christmas. This is a great value and the size is perfect for rolling out dough. It doesn't stick when flour is applied and the handy measurements are great. I would recommend this to anyone who especially likes to bake pies, rolled out pastry, cookies, etc. I use it only for my baking needs but can be used for cutting on the other side. The wood is beautiful and it washes up great....looks nice in the kitchen too.

what is the proper way to clean a board like this?

    • A. I use a home made vinegar spray half vinegar half water and a couple drops of dawn dish soap in a large spray bottle. This is also my everything household cleaner.

    • A. I am not an expert at this, but, when I am cooking, I use Dawn dishwasher liquid and run a sink full of water and soapsoads. I wipe down all my counters in the kitchen and also wipe down my cutting boards before I start cooking. (I then use this water to wash all my utensils as I am cooking so as not to have a big, messy kitchen when I am done cooking.) I then take a lemon and squeeze lemon juice on the board and use a paper towel to spread the lemon juice around and rub it into the board.

    • A. Hot soapy water. Immediately rinse and dry. Do not let stand in dish drainer to dry. Take good care of your board, it is not only beautiful, it is useful. I turn it over to be able to cut or chop about anything I want.

    • A. Depends on what you're cutting. If it's something that didn't make much of a mess then just wipe it with a damp clean rag. You can also clean with a mild soap and cool water, just use your hand to suds up the soap. Don't use anything abrasive like a scrubbing brush and never put it in the dishwasher.

    • A. hand wash and air dry. Don't allow top to dry while bottom sits on prolonged wet surface. Make sure both sides are allowed to dry evenly. You may want to stand on edge if in doubt.

    • A. I am a representative from Paula Deen Cookware. Hand-washing is only recommended along with drying the wood immediately after. Submerging the board in water is not recommended as water contains moisture, and may affect the strengths of the glue joints and could also cause the wood to soften.

I saw this cutting board at Walmart but did not buy it yet as it states that it is a pie cutting board. What does that mean? Can this also be used as a general cutting board to cut and chop on? Please answer ASAP as there are only 2 left at my Walmart store.
