    Best value in portable heating.

The best part of these heaters are they are serviceable. I have had one for 3 yrs now and maintenance is easy. (First thing, unplug the heater before doing any service.) Each year I remove the screws from the side of the case and just remove the back section of the heater. I gently vacuum any dust and gently remove the dust from the fan blades. The biggest problem with these heaters are the fan motor. They do not have a sealed bearing. They use a flat brass bushing and they get dry of lubrication. I use 3in1 oil to lubricate the brass bushing of the fan motor and problem solved. Good to go for another year. Do not touch the element in the front half of the case while cleaning. The heat from these heaters are directed low along the floor and that helps more than the heaters that direct the heat upward as the heat is going to rise anyway. Great purchase for the price.

We love this heater! We have had it a year now and never had a problem with it. We use 1 in my bedroom and 1 in my grandmother's bedroom..and it really heats up the room. You can select how hot you want it to be with the dial, and it will turn itself to a 'standby' off mode when heat has reached that desired level on the dial. Sort of like a thermostat. It is not good for large or high ceiling rooms that are not fully enclosed. It's light and portable. I can plug it in the bathroom, and bring it back to my room on the cold winter months. :) If you are like me, and can't always afford oil deliveries, this is great to heat up your room so you don't have to worry about freezing at night! I was totally impressed with how cheap it is, working so well! I recommend this to anyone! :)

    • Is probably safe on floor or counter, so you can probably place it where you need it most. Is probably safe when room is steamy; don't see why not.

    • You could probably place on floor or on counter, whichever you prefer. But maybe better on floor? Should be safe when room is steamy.

    • Just keep it away from where you will splash water. Heating the air makes it more readily absorb moisture. The fan running also helps the air all work to absorb the moisture. I have a little 500 Watt base heater in the bathroom that I run while I shower and I set a small fan on the counter. After a good long shower the mirrors are clear even. This unit with more heat and the fan should work great.

    • I use mine at work, but just like any electrical appliance - it doesn't like water! I would feel safe using it in a steamy bathroom though, just not near direct water.

    • I put mine in doorway. It's safe in steamy room as long as you don't put heater directly in contact with water.

    • If it is working it should help to slow the moisture in the air. We use it to warm and to dry out the bathroom.

    • There is not much steam that I think it will matter. I have been using it everyday. It will also help if you preheat the bathroom if that's your concern. But I do not have any problem with the product.

    • This type heater using a coil that gets hot. If the heater is on high or setting no. 2, the coil may glow red. Most coil heaters will do this on the high setting. Some ribbon type radiant heaters actually glow red when they are on and it just indicates that the coils are heating. This heater relies on air being pushed out of the front of the heater in order for it heat a room properly. The heater should not be placed to where it blows the hot air toward any combustible materials such as curtains, wood objects, towels or other highly combustible objects. It is best to place the heater just inside of the door way if you are using it in a bath room. Keeping the door closed and showering will create excessive moisture from the steam and this will cause the heater to fail prematurely due to moisture in the air. Always use this type heater on the floor. Heat rises and if placed on a counter, it can not heat the air hear the floor area. These heaters last for years if properly used and maintained. Keep them clean and use a vacuum to remove dust from the rear of the heater. Heater can be dismantled by removing screws and cleaning the fan blades. Just be careful not to damage any of the internal parts. Use a brush attachment on your vacuum and be careful. The motor can be oiled yearly with three In one oil. The motor is not sealed and you can lightly oil it with just a few drops of oil to keep the bearings lubricated. I own one that is almost 20 years old and it runs like new. I have loaned it to several people when their heater was on the blink. They always ask me where I got it. Several manufactures have produced this type heater and they work well.

    • With heaters that use coils, instead of ceramic, or radiators, this is normal. You will mainly see it on the high power setting of 2. On 1, though, I never noticed it glowing red.

    • You might want to blow it and/or make sure the fan is working properly. Mine glows red on the 2nd setting, but not on the first. It might be an indication of too much heat/not enough air flow.

    • I notice they glow red if it has been on an extended amount of time, but it shortly goes off. I think it is an overheating mechanism to keep it from doing so.
