Parker Student Desk, White 3.3 5 8 9
Nice sturdy teen desk Bought this for my pre-teen daughter. Had to build it myself, but if you've ever built anything from IKEA, this is very similar. Pieces fit together well, all parts were included. Only problem was the desktop piece was damaged (edge chipped), but the manufacturer is sending me a free replacement piece. I'd suggest you inspect the pieces as you take them out of the box (as I neglected to do). I don't care for the drawer pulls - they are silver plastic. I intend to replace them with something from Home Depot at some point. My daughter loves the desk - the drawers are roomy. No complaints at all - especially for the price. 02/03/2010
Nice & sturdy, easy to assemble We bought this desk for our young daughter to do her crafts and homework on. Very sturdy, all pieces accounted for. It took us about 90 minutes from unpacking to a clean, finished product. One of the main reasons we purchased this desk instead of the dozens of others we reviewed is that this one has a white, FINISHED back. Because this desk is freestanding in the middle of our home office, having a finished back was high on our list of features. Every other desk we looked at had the brown, tacky-looking cardboard back that you tack on with dozens of tiny nails. The back of this Parker desk is clean and white. The desk is plenty large enough for an adult to sit at, and I plan to use it to scrapbook as well. All parts fit together snugly, finished product is strong, drawers glide smoothly, and the laminate top should be easy to wipe down and keep clean. We like the contemporary style, it goes well with the other furniture in our home office/craft room. The instructions were easy line drawings -- no words, but as another reviewer mentioned, if you've put together any similar IKEA-type product you won't have any trouble with this.If you're looking for a good, assemble-it-yourself desk, we feel this one is well worth the money, and it feels like it will last for many years to come. One side note about shipping: we selected Site-to-Store, and the desk was ready for pick up from our local Walmart a full week ahead of schedule. We were very pleased about this. 04/24/2010
Nice, But Frustrating I'm a college student and I bought this desk so I could have a better place to do my work and keep things organized. The desk looks great and is definitely big enough for an adult, even though it says for kids/teens. It's not too big and the drawers have plenty of room.My only complants are that the drawers are EXTREMELY hard to open/close due to the stop on the runner than disabled the drawer from sliding all the way out. I have to jerk really hard on them for them to even budge. I'm not sure if this is a defect or what, but I'm sure everything has been put together properly. I'm hoping they will loosen up over time. Also, I think it would be really helpful for the directions to include textual instructions to go side-by-side with the graphic directions, because some of the pictures aren't completely clear. 05/18/2010
Nice desk The desk is very nice - pretty and the draws slide nicely. It's heavier than I thought it would be. Do yourself a favor and get at least one person to help you hold it together while you attach the pieces. I've assembled quite a few pieces of furniture and this one was a little more advanced - I've never done drawer slides before, so this was interesting. I had three kids helping me hold it and it was a struggle because the top is the stabilizing pieces for the whole thing. 11/11/2010
