Good little ereader

I liked this product because it is an ereader plus has access to email, web, music and pictures at a reasonable price. Also it has a touch screen, is backlit and is in color. So far I'm very pleased with it, though, it is sometimes a little slow on response in turning pages while reading books, but for the price, it's not a big issue for me. However, it is the reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Set up was easy -- be sure to put in the correct time and date because it will affect the download capability. It downloads ebooks easily from Barnes & Noble, is user friendly and easy to operate. Would recommend overall.

I purchased this for my ten year old daughter who loves to read. I researched the Nook, the Kindle and a few other products (the one that Bath and Beyond sells). For the price and what it has to offer I think that I got a better deal with the Pandigital. It is no Ipad - but it doesn't compare itself to that either. The key for successfully using the touch screen while flipping pages is either using the stylus (it comes with it) or using your fingernail). The color screen is nice. I also like the dictionary feature in which if you hold and press a word - the dictionary function will come up and will give you the definition. You can also download apps - BUT if you do you will forfeit your warranty...but it can be done. For now I think she will be fine with reading the books, listening to music (which you can do while reading) and being able to go on the internet (with adult supervision of course). I played with it for a while and downloaded her some free books from B& N so that she will be ready to use it on Christmas day. Plus it gave me an excuse to play with it before she got to it! I put once a month on the party where it asks "How often do you use it" because I have only had it for a couple of weeks and it's a gift...so I put it back in the box and it won't be used again until Christmas.

Well, after I finally quit expecting it to work like my sister's Kindle, I figured out the in's and out's of this device. I am so delited with the function and size of the product. I can even read in the car at night and the light does not bother my husband. I take it everywhere and everyone is interested. The Pandigital name is not well known for the E-Book Reader, but it rates right up there with all the others. Only down side is that I don't have WIFI at my hiouse and have to go to McDonalds or my sister's to access that function. My sister with the Kindle is also impressed with the unit I purchased.

I had been thinking of getting a eReader for a few months and had researched the Sony, Nook, Kindle, etc. But, when I came across this unit I was pleasantly surprised at the color, touch screen, lending option, etc. that is available on the unit. Right out of the box I was connecting to the internet to check email, update Facebook, download FREE books to read. I am SO pleased with this product I recommended it to friends and two have already bought thier own. Love this eReader!!

I bought this Pandigital for my wife for Christmas she wanted the nook color but it was a hundred dollars more. When I got it, it was very slow, but after installing the new update from Pandigitan it ran much smoother and better. It's still not like my I pad but good for a 150.00 device. If you love to read I found the internal memory to be small for me but they do have a flash drive for extra memory but even at that you have to up load the data on the Flash back to the E-book. Make sure you set the date and time before downloading books. The good news all my books I had on my I pad were still on BN and I got the free to upload to the Pandigital E-reader. If you don't have I pad money get this e reader. note this reader donot come with adobe flash so a lot on the web you will not be able to see. like farmville on Facebook. But I did hear there will be and up date for that later in the year.

If u can go on the internet and use lets say Facebook...how do you interact with this webpage....at home I'm use to a keyboard...how would I type on this ereader ? or should I just start shopping around for a Laptop ? And with a Laptop...are they set up w/wifi also ? So sorry my questions are probably so simple for most people...but I don't own many electronics of this nature.

  • A. You can type the same way as you do on an iphone or any phone that has internet access. I don't recommend this though. It has very few things you can do on FB. I can only read my page , can't leave comments, go to other's pages etc...

  • A. The Pandagital has a keyboard which opens up at the bottom of the screen when you want to type something. You need a fingernail to type a letter and then sometimes it is hit or miss. So, yes you can use Facebook and update it, but it's a slower process. You may be happier with a laptop. Most have wifi built it. The bonus with a laptop or any computer is that you can go to B&N, Amazon, Borders websites and download their ereader software and you can read books on your computer.

  • A. For Facebook this only does the most simple interaction. There are no flash games, so you can't play Farmville and the like. The e-reader has an on-screen typewriter. When you tap on a line where you would type, then a little keyboard pops up on the screen and you can type with it. This does have Wi-Fi, so you can use it for free from your local restaurants, but you can also use it on a home network too. However, there is no 3G like the iPad, so you will need a computer at home if you want to set this up on a network. I don't know what your price range is but a lot depends on what you are looking for. If you are wanting something simple that you can get online from time to time (not something for daily use) then the reader isn't bad. If you want something where you can shop, type word documents, or do any heavy browsing, or gaming, I'd recommend a laptop. Wal-mart has a great selection of laptops (no I'm not an employee) but again, it depends on your situation. If you want something less than 300 - 400 dollars, then you probably won't find a laptop that would make you very happy. I hope this helps some!

  • A. I use the mobile page of Facebook on my iPhone and my Pandigital Novel. It has a keyboard that you can use a provided stylus (pen like instrument) to tap the keys or you can use your fingernail. My favorite computing device is a Netbook (smaller than a laptop). The netbook will do a LOT more than the Pandigital Novel can do.
