    The best family tent!!

I searched and searched for a tent that included instant/easy set up where the poles are connected and litterally takes less then 5 minutes to set up once out the bag, straight walls for complete walk around roomy space, great construction, and there is an airconditioning door at the bottom so you can bring a small 8,000 BTU AC and something to sit it on as it will be off the ground by about 8". Great tent and I hightly recommend it!

This tent is insanely simple to set-up! We did not get the opportunity to 'test setup' the tent before we took it camping....we literally pulled it out of the box at the campsite. In the dark, after midnight (long day), and without reading the instructions we set the tent up in about ten minutes. The frame system is a very good design...Just unfold it, extend the legs and the tent is up. We put two queen sized air mattresses in, one on each end, and that leaves a large space in the middle for bags and stuff or even a third air mattress. Perfect for us with 2 small children. The 20'x10' footprint is quite large, so keep this in mind when choosing a campsite. There is plenty of overhead space...a 6'+ person can stand anywhere inside. I do not like the sunshade design, since it is also the weather/privacy flap for the door; you either have the shade up, or you have the flap closed. (there is a screen flap as well) Since it has poles and staked lines, it is more inconvenient than it should be to close up at night. I may try to add an additional privacy flap to be able to close up without taking down the awning. Another option may be to incorporate a separate canopy and just use the integrate flap/awning as just a flap...or perhaps add a canopy to the opposite side's door, although the 'back door' flap does not have a screen door, only a screen window. As a sun shade, the front door/flap is not very high at the front edge...anyone over 5'2" will have to duck to get under. It is also difficult to make it level on uneven ground (see pic). The tent has a screen mesh roof with rain fly, so it vents pretty well...but probably not ideal for low temps. The stakes are thin aluminum rods...if you have to stake in hard ground, get heavier duty ones. Overall I feel this was an excellent purchase! There are a lot of features for a very reasonable price.

Big Tent and Super Fast Setup

I just got this tent, so I have not taken it camping yet. I had to set it up as soon as I got it. It goes up fast and easy. This tent is roomy; I put a queen size double high airbed in it and installed a divider and the room with the bed was perfect. I will probably not use the dividers, but they work well. I also set up the awning. I probably will not use the awning, but it seems sturdy if you don't mind guide lines. I staked the tent out to get the full area potential and it's a nice big space. I will no longer be sleeping on the ground with the rocks... Plenty of space and headroom too... The tent looks good, the rain fly is nice, and the mesh roof without the rain fly will be amazing on a warm starry night... Look for my videos about this tent on YouTube.

I would like to use this for sleeping out in the Texas Hill Country where half the year scorpions prowl around at night. If the tent is totally zipped up, is there any way a scopion, snake, centipede or spider could crawl in? What about where the electric cord goes through the side wall? Is this area open or does it have some kind of mesh or secure closing around the cord? Could this area be secured with electrical tape if necessary? Also, is there a smaller version of this nice tent for just 2 people and a dog? Will dog claws hurt the floor and punture it? Thanks.

    • Yes all openings zip closed, except for the elect cord opening. Use duct tape to block that.

    • Yes, the Ozark Trail 10 Person 3-room Instant Cabin Tent will prevent scorpions, snakes, and other creepy crawlies from entering.

    • Hi Louise, Yes, this tent should keep out creepy crawlies. All of the mesh zips closed, and there is a hook and loop fastener like Velcro along the electrical cord port. You could definitely use electrical tape as well, if you felt it was necessary. We do sell instant tents in smaller sizes. Ozark Trail has a 4-Person Dome Tent that might interest you. It is one of our best sellers. We also have a 6-Person Instant Dome, a 6-Person Instant Cabin, and up from there. They are available both in-store and online. Thank you, Customer Service

    • All the mesh for the windows and ceiling are permanently attached to the tent; plus the "tub" floor is a couple inches high all around (to prevent water intrusion) so could help form a barrier at the doors to keep critters out. The electric port has Velcro to secure it's flap so should be secure. It snugs well around an extension cord. The floor is pretty heavy duty, but you may want to consider either clipping the the dog's nails, or bringing a drop cloth if it's claws are sharp. I usually set up any tent with some kind of tarp or pad underneath to help cushion the floor from sharp objects...mainly because most campsites we go to are also RV sites and are composed of packed gravel rather than grass or soft sand.

    • We have this tent and put it up as a test run. With everything zipped up I don't see how snakes or scorpions could get in. I looked while it was up for this very reason and also for rain purposes. I would feel safe...we have five children (also a concern for them and their safety). That being said this tent is HUGE! We are seven total in our family and it is plenty of room. Way more than just a two person tent. Something to consider. Good luck!

We only need 2 rooms, but would like each section to have its own door. If you only put up 1 room divider would each each section have its own door?
    by chris 4/23/2014
    • No, the doors are off the middle room, opposite each other. So a front and back door.

    • Dear Chris, The Previous Poster is correct. With both room dividers up, the side rooms are 8' long and the center room is 4' long. It was designed to be similar to a house, where the side rooms are for sleeping and the center room is for "living," so we placed the doors in the center room. If you hang up one room divider, you will have one 8' room and one 12' room. Both doors will be in the 12' room. Thank you, Customer Service

    • No, the tent dividers have a zipper in them, but the tent only has one door in the center section of the tent. The dividers section the outer rooms of the tent only.

    • Hi Chris! As you well know the tent is 20' long. If the room dividers are used, each "room" will be 8' long leaving only 4' in the center where BOTH doors are located. So the answer to your question is yes and no. Yes the 12' section will have access to both doors, but the 8' section will have 3 windows and a center zipper leading to the remaining 12' area and the doors. So no, the 8' section does not have a door leading to the outside. Hope this was helpful!
