Ozark Trail 14' x 10' 3-Room Tent/Cabin (Sleeps 9) 4.4 5 12 13
Pennsic Veteran I took this tent up to Hills of Pennsylvania for a medieval reinactment vacation of 2 weeks since the shape of the tent looks like a period tent from the middle ages (kinda), This tent is phenomenal! First of all it took only 20 minutes to set up. The iron bars are color coded so unless you are color blind, you can put this tent together in minutes. Second, this tent weathered every possible act of nature except for snow while I was in Pennsylvania. EXtreme heat, I was kept cool with all the open windows, extreme flooding, not a speck of water entered the tent unless I brought it in from my clothes or shoes. And most importantly for this city girl, not a single spider or bug was able to pierce through the mesh windows and roof. I was even worried about the all mesh roof, but the covering kept all the rain out (and the bugs that took cover on the the roof, plus where other tents on site pooled water on their roofs, mine did not. (I found out later that Pennsylvania had gotten hit with severe thunderstorms and this is what my tent went through) Since I came to Pennsylvania from Florida, I did puchase 18 inch tent stakes instead of the ones that came with the tent, because the deeper the stakes the stronger the hold on the tent. I spent two weeks with this tent. after 3 days of straight rain and finally sunshine, I took a walk around the site and noticed 5 other tents just like mine that had faired equally as well. One couple had seen my tent in camp and gone to the local Walmart in Butler County to buy one. I'm not sure how the other poster's solid metal frame managed to twist or break" unless they were in the middle of a category one Hurricane, but this tent performed well for me. The walk in closet was what sold me on the tent (city girl thing) I had a ton of room not only for my luggage but also a clothing rack to hang my clothes and my shoes. The closet also gave me privacy to change instead of zipping of the windows when it was almost 100 degrees. The shelving came in very handy for accessories and the extra zipper storage came in handy too. The only thing I wish about the tent is that it also had a rear door, instead of just one entrance. Repacking the tent, thank you for the extra expandable space! I didn't repack exactly as I got the tent but I was able to expand the sides of the wheel cart and fit the tent in with my haphazzard packing. There is also extra room for a flashlight, mallet, rope and cords. The tent was still a little pricey for my budget but is worth the investment! I am using it again this weekend in Ocala. I will take pictures of it so that other can see how it looks.HIGHLY RECOMENDED! 08/30/2007
a first rate tent My family and i enjoyed our tent. It held up very well in the wind and in the rain. I would recommend this tent to those who love the outdoors. 07/24/2007
Maybe this tent is a good toy..... Our old tent was a Coleman Dome style tent, and one of the fiberglass sections broke and we had to replace it. A month later another single section broke, and because we were going camping soon and I was afraid another section would break, I bought this tent......The Ozark Trail had steel poles that were much larger in diameter than the dome tent (the dome tent poles have to be flexable) and had a steel chain conecting the sections together- this looked like it was very sturdy compared to our old tent....(The steel tent poles connect at the joints with PLASTIC connectors.....this was the first clue I missed.)ANYHOW- On our camping trip, the tent started out great! Very easy to get it up, the tie downs are already attached for you, everything is color coded....simple.On our last day (thank goodness) there was a MILD rain storm- it lasted an hour. When we arrived at our tent we were shocked (and embarrassed) that our tent LITERALLY lay in a crumpled, bent-up heap! The "sturdy" steel poles BENT IN HALF!!! THEY ARE SO THIN THEY BENT!Then- the plastic connector pieces were absolutely SHATTERED! There was no way we could even salvage it - even the metal hooks were snapped in half, I've never seen anything like it.WE HAD TO LEAVE OUR VACATION EARLY BECAUSE WE HAD NO TENT TO SLEEP IN. KEEP THAT IN MIND WHEN THINKING ABOUT BUYING THIS TENT. 07/04/2007
Ozark Trail Tent-The Best Tent Ever This tent is the easiset set-up I've ever experienced. The fact that the poles are color-coded, and that the tent attaches to the frame, and uses logical pressure to stay up, makes so much sense-great design. You put the frame up and then attach the tent to it, then up it goes. One person can do it fairly easily-with two it really just takes a half hour, or less. I put this up for the summer-it was just a great guest room, a place for the neighbor's kids to hang out, an extra room for our 91-year old to take a sunny summer nap in, or play cards, or read. We used it all summer, and enjoyed watching the stars at night through the screen roof, and figured out an easy way to cover the screening with the fly at night if it rained. The design has the tent fly protruding out past the tent itself, so even in the pouring rain, the inside of the tent stayed dry. My favorite part about it was the full front "window", and we called the front section "the porch", the middle was the living room/sleep room, and the walk-in closet was also fun for the little kids of our family to sleep in a cot. We enjoyed hanging clothes in the corner "pockets", and kept towels and extra blankets there as well.We splurged on one of Walmart's double thick air mattresses, put a carpet down the length of the tent, and with flannel fitted sheets and a cloth sleeping bag (I never have liked the nylon ones that slide off), it was a cozy place right from mid-May through mid-September. Cheaper than a cottage, it allowed even the taller members of our family to stand up inside the tent, instead of having to bend over all the time. I really recommend this for backyard campling, or for travelling arpound and setting up for the weekend. Next year I may get a second one to use for a kitchen! Very durable, laying a tarp underneath kept the fabric from dirt and mold. Five Star! 11/14/2007
