No, water can get in through the open speaker and camera holes.

No - there are many holes in it for speakers, the camera and so on. It is not waterproof. However, if you took it out in the rain, it would stay much drier in this case than without it and most of your ports/plugs are covered with "flaps".

The Otterbox Defender is NOT waterproof. They do make one that is waterproof that I am told can be taken to a depth of 10 feet.

Waterproof? NO. Water resistant...yes. It will protect from light water exposure but not from submersion.

If you want a waterproof case, get a Lifeproof case.
If you drop your IPhone in water with the Otterbox case, you can kiss your phone goodbye!

Otterbox makes a different model line they call the Armor Series that is waterproof

It is definitely NOT going to be waterproof. The only one I have heard of that IS waterproof is LIFEPROOF, which is a totally different brand.

This case does NOT make your phone waterproof. It is not completely sealed. There are areas of the phone that are open and could take in liquids. There are waterproof cases on the market, but I don't know if one is made by OtterBox. I've seen teens with them at my neighborhood pool.

The Defender model is NOT water proof. Otter Box does make a water proof/ submersible model, don't remember the model see the Otter Box site.

The otter box is two separate pieces; clip assembly and cover/case. Your phone can be carried on a belt with the clip or detached from the clip assembly. When detached your phone can be flat or in a pocket and still be protected.

No it don't remove completely but it will sit flat with the clip on it the clip is as wide as the case

Yes. The clip is more like a holster, in that the phone/case snaps into it. When removed, there is no trace of a clip and sits perfectly flat.

The clip swivels 180 degrees and will lock in the open position for a kickstand for your phone.

Yes. There is no problem to remove the clip. Both of my teens have an Otterbox and do not use the clip. They are not fond of it because it does not fit well in their pocket or one of the cute wristlets, but it is safe!

Yes. You can also leave the phone case in the clip assembly, secure the clip open, and position the phone like a picture frame on a desk.

Yes your phone will sit flat when removed. The phone goes in a case and then the case itself is clipped in the holder which can then be clipped on your belt, purse, etc.

If you mean the belt clip, yes. It's removable.

Yes. My son doesn't use the belt clip part, so I know it does come off.

You don't have to use the belt clip. It is super-useful, but it is removable. In fact, to really use all of the buttons/chargers then you will usually take it out of the belt clip. It is just a normal part of using it. I take it in and out at least 30 times a day.

The belt clip is a separate piece that you do not have to use.

You have to put it on the phone to use it. I don't use mine so it's still in the package.
