I had 2 of the same problems that people wrote complaints about and returned the fryer. One was the lid would not shut and kept popping up. I noticed I did not put the front element on correctly. The front element assembly has grooves on the back of it that slides into grooves on the front of the fryer which you have to align perfectly for the lid to close and stay closed and I am not referring to the 2 prongs on the bottom on both sides that fit into little round holes. Mine also started frying and then quit and I could not figure out what was going on for a long time. There is a reset button on the back of the front element that had to be reset. Once I figured those things out by reading the directions, it worked perfectly.

Great item. Use it all the time. Love the stainless steel look. Fits right under cupboard. Not messy like a regular fryer, less odor, timer. Great for the price.

I have had this deep fryer for 2 yrs. or more. I love it. I haven't had a problem with my lid staying down or any others problems with it. I or my kids use it EVERY DAY! And it still works like new. When cleaning it I have gotten the control knobs wet and it still works just fine. I would recoomend it to everyone.

    • There is a button on the top to push for the lid to lip open. Be careful as the unit is hot and the steam is also hot.

    • The lid attaches to the rear of the fryer and there is a notch at the front of the lid that fryer clicks into to lock it shut.

    • It's attached to the base and flips open to remove the basket. The lid can be removed if you need to clean it.

    • It is seperate. There is a button you push to relase the lid. But you can put the lid down before you lower the basket as to prevent splatter which is very nice.

    • THE LID IS REMOVABLE, & IS PART OF THE BASE, & IT DOES FLIP UP.

    • Not sure what you mean by "does it flip up when adding to the basket" There is a button you push to open the lid. Fitting the lid to the unit is part of the assembly instructions when you unpack the unit. It fits into hinges at the back of the unit and has a spring-type thingy on it to make it spring open when you press the lid open/release button.

    • I would change oil as needed. When you cannot see through the oil it is probably best to change.

    • This fryer is very easy to clean and keep clean. It takes me about the same time as to clean my black and stainless range. Changing the oil will depend what you fry in it and what grade of oil you use. If you fry fish you will need to change it. To clean it just pop the lid off and put it in the dishwasher, the oil reservoir can also go in the dishwasher and the basket. Do Not put the oil heating unit in the dishwasher. Use a good low smoke oil and be careful with batter and you can use your oil about 8 times. When it starts to smell like old oil or when it gets dark and you can't see through it, i change it then.

    • it all depends on your oil choice, i reccomend to use peatnut oil it last longer then any other oil. very easy to clean but dont let it go for a long time because it will cake up on the basket and make it hard to close

    • It is easy to clean as it is dishwasher safe. They reccommend every 3-5 uses. I however used mine for about 6 uses then dumped the oil. It also says when it starts to stink. But I would never wait that long. eww

    • You should change the oil once it becomes "blackish" in color. If you can see the heating element through the oil, it's still ok to use. The more often you use the oil, it breaks down and lowers the "flash point", increasing the chances of fire. You should filter the oil through some cheesecloth after about 5-10 uses? Just a guess...It is VERY easy to clean!

    • Yes, it's easier to clean than many of the other fryers I've owned. How often you change the oil is a function of how often the oil is used, the temperature it's heated to, the types of food you cook, the age of the oil, and the type of oil. It has little to nothing to do with the fryer you use.

    • There is no clear answer to this question. You change the oil when you cannot see through it clearly. We used the fryer four times before changing the oil. The fryer was easy to disassemble, clean and reassemble. The basket and oil container can be put in the dishwasher.

    • CHANGING THE OIL, DEPENDS ON HOW OFTEN YOU USE IT, & WHAT YOU FRY IN IT. FISH LEAVES ALOT OF RESIDUE, & SO DOES COATED CHECKEN. THE OIL WILL GET BROWN FROM BEING REHEATED OVER & OVER, SO WE CHANGE OURS WHEN WE CAN'T SEE THE HEATING ELEMENTS IN THE BOTTOM. CLEANING IS SOMEWHAT EASY, IF CLEANED BEFORE THE OILY RESIDUE GETS BURNT ON.
