Rated 5 out of 5★ by Spdy Excellent game, reminiscing the apple IIe. Reminiscing the apple IIe version, but with better game play. Added features are the 3D and the fishing part. I totally recommend buying here at Walmart.com for only $19.99 + tax and shipping. 01/03/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 As good as the original I've been trying to get this game for years, and then all the sudden here it is, inexpensive at Walmart.com.The controls are a little difficult to figure out at first but once you get the hang of it this game is really fun :DYou're Mighty Welcome! 10/14/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by itsjustme66 Its fun to drive the wagon yourself First I was concerned about this game because the screen shots online looked so ugly. But I had to try it anyways and am glad I did. I must say I only played this game in 2D, since i cannot tolerate the 3D. The graphics of this game are not mind blowing but they suit the atmosphere of the Oregon Trail just fine, no complaints there. I love to whip my oxen to make them go faster. It's nice to drive your own wagon and it's not too easy to avoid all the obstacles, don't know if 2D makes it more challenging or if I just go too fast. Fishing and hunting are fun ,but when you want to go berry picking you just click the sign and the next thing you know is how much you picked without actually having done any picking yourself, very lame. Why couldn't they let you pick berries via the touch screen ? The loading screens seem to take about 30 seconds (without having timed it, but it seems that long) but luckily they are not too frequent so it's bearable. Also once this game froze on me. Overall I like this game. 01/02/2012
Rated 4 out of 5 Not very polished, but fun and challenging I received this game as a gift. If I was buying this for myself I would wait until it hit the $11 clearance bin. I've seen the reviews and watched people play the game on YouTube so I knew what to expect beforehand. Not very polished, but fun and challenging! Definitely a game for older children and adults. If you have both a Wii and a 3DS I would suggest getting the Wii version. The 3D effect on the 3DS is decent but the graphics are better suited for the big screen. Critters standing far away are almost too small to see while hunting! Also the controls feels awkward to use, namely the pointer. Not mentioned in the manual or in-game that the X button lets you stop hunting/fishing early. The game autosaves after every leg of the trail. It's easy to pick up and play while gaming on the go. There is not much story in the Story Mode while on the trail, but it gives you different trail conditions and new trail legs to choose in later chapters. The three wagons have different capacities for supplies and drive very differently in speed and handling, enough to influence your strategies on the trail. "Heirloom" items indirectly adjusts the difficultly level of the game 01/16/2013
