The HDMI pass through is AWESOME! Even though my tv is NOT a 4K! The thing I did not like was how my price changed from $348 to $398 when I put it through to order it! The audio is very clear and I like the Internet radio capability. I don't really listen to FM that much anymore, except when driving sometimes. I have to say that I was a Die-Hard for Sony for almost thirty years, but the Sony models like this one were out of budget.

Onkyo's HT-RC560 delivers exceptional performance well beyond its price range. Setup was fairly easy, including Network and Bluetooth Connections. The sound delivered in awesome, and I love streaming iPod music and internet radio wirelessly. It's connected to a 3D Blu Ray Player and 3D Smart HDTV. The images and sound are just unbelievable (I did calibrate the HDTV). I've streemed images via Bluetootn from Android to Blu Ray Player through the Onkyo to TV with no issues and great image quality displayed. The only disappoint for me is, at this Price Point, Onkyo does not include Pre-Outs on any of their HT Receivers. This unit will be moved for bedroom duty in favor of my NAD HT w/Pre-Outs to 5 channel amp in the main HT Room. I'll surely miss its wireless and network capabilities in that room.

    A High End Bargain
    3/18/2014

Highs: Great Sound, Tons of Features, Great Value, Universal Remote, Up-scaling Lows: BIG box, Illegible Buttons, Slow Responsiveness, Frustrating Internet Radio The HT-RC560 receiver is a bargain and loaded with features only found in more expensive receivers. In my experience, pretty much everything worked. Unfortunately, not everything worked quite as well as I as I would have liked. But in the end, I it is a keeper. Be aware that the HT-RC560 appears to be a relabeled Onkyo TX-NR626. Onkyo reps have made statements to that affect online (you can Google it). I took the time to review the manuals and specs of both Onkyos and I can say that the US version of the TX-NR626 appears to be identical to the HT-RC560. They even use the same firmware. That said, the TX-NR626 is only sold through retailers that charge a lot more ($500 as I write). So, the HT-RC560 is a real bargain. I will compare this to a Yamaha RX-V375 I bought and returned prior to getting the Onkyo. I’ll start with Negatives. The Onkyo is BIG. It looks bigger in person than it does in pictures. So, be prepared. And unfortunately, the size is not put to good use. The front panel buttons look useable in pictures, but in person they blend together and the text is much too small and grey. If you want to use the front panel buttons then make sure you have a flashlight handy, really. In this respect, the Yamaha is better. The Yamaha buttons have different shapes and sizes making them easier to identify. Text is also bigger and easier to read. The initial setup of the Onkyo is not bad. The set-up routine is very user friendly, but making adjustments to settings is complicated. There are a lot of menus and they are not intuitive. You will find yourself digging down to look at every setting available to find the one you want. On the positive side Onkyo provides a wide range of adjustments, and once they are set, you can pretty much forget about them. Maybe it is me, but I thought the Onkyo receiver was a bit slow, not unacceptably slow, but noticeable. For example, when you turn it on it seems to take a long time (10-20s) before you get a picture and sound. Also, changing sound fields takes about 5s per click. The Yamaha was noticeably faster. The most annoying aspect of the Onkyo’s slowness is with the internet radio (InTune). It takes a long time to set up, and changing stations took 30s to a minute. Pandora worked well though, better than InTune. Now the Positives. This receiver really sounds fantastic! I thought it was distinctly better than the Yamaha, and I did not expect the difference to be so noticeable. Some other reviews said that Onkyo’s set-up did not calibrate the speakers correctly, but I think it did it perfectly. The Yamaha set my rear surrounds annoyingly high. The Onkyo was much more balanced. The best surprise for me was the included universal remote. I thought I would be lucky to be able to turn my TV on and off and change volume with it. It does a lot more. It worked with my new LG TV, my old Phillips DVD player and my Uverse set-top box. In fact, it pretty much replicated all the functions of my Uverse remote, allowing me to access menus and program information. I was able to set up the receiver to work with all my devices. Everything turns on and off at the same time, although I occasionally have a hick-up with powering off. The video up-scaling works great with my old Phillips DVD player using component video. I also got the ARC to work with my TV, so I feed the audio for my Smart TV through the single HDMI cable (I could not get ARC to work on the Yamaha). All in all, this receiver is a great bargain, and you will have a hard time finding another receiver with this good sound and all of these features at such a reasonable price.

I had my mind set on the Sony STR-DN1040, because of the WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, but had a friend purchase the Onkyo TX-NR626, and he raved about it. After researching on Onkyo's website, I found this model. The ONLY difference is a loss of 10w per channel from 95w to 85w. According to the Onkyo rep on there forums, this is an identical model to the TX-NR626, however, the HT-RC560 was labeled for exclusive sell in the USA. The TX-NR626 is available worldwide. With that said, why would you spend almost 2x for "identical" quality, but a different model number etching? The initial set-up is pretty dummy proof with the help of the included microphone to assist in configuring YOUR surround sound set-up based on speaker heights and distances. I have a blended 7.2 surround w/ Polk towers, Klipsch 12" sub, Yamaha in-ceiling speakers, and Polk rear surround speakers and this receiver absolutely provides enough power to bring out the best in each of these speakers without you needing to be a audiophile geek, and get into ohms, hz, and all the other marketing gimmicks that a normal human ear cannot differentiate and tell the difference. I highly recommend this product. The ONLY downside to my purchasing this was UPS "lost' my initial package, and only had the shipping label (not WM's fault). Once Wal-Mart was told this by UPS, they IMMEDIATELY processed, and shipped a replacement (literally 10 minutes while I was on the phone with them). They took the stress of having to deal w/ UPS and there never ending do no wrong and denials. If you're looking for a receiver (even a high-end), you will absolutely not be disappointed with this product.

The sound is terrific, with set up mic adjustments available to balance all speakers, & surround sound. I installed Blue Ray DVD, separate CD player, TV & FIOS cable, sub-woofer, pair side speakers, one mid speaker, two surround sound rear speakers and with a 2d zone available, I will be adding other speakers in another room shortly. My TV picture improved significantly; the detail is magnificent. Switching between functions is easy. I prefer separate remotes for all these functions, but Onkyo's simplicity makes it a one step process. You can program all hardware functions on their master remote if you wish. Very happy with the product and we received it from Walmart in a couple of days. A good buy! I bought and installed this about a two weeks ago.
