  • A. I have two of these lock sets. For reasons like needing extra length. One can hook as many together as they need. Also I use one cable for securing the bike and one for securing Items in the bike basket.

  • A. Depends on if you just want to lock the two bikes together or if you want to lock them together AND to another object.(pole, bike rack, etc.) get a piece of six foot rope and see if it will do what you want, if it does then the cable should also work.

  • A. Yes, but it may be a stretch to get all four wheels. This lock is really springy--resists being straightened. So, you have to fight with it some.

  • A. Yes, the 6' cable is long enough to lock two bikes, but it will be tight. You could lock the frames of two bikes to a post or tree, but it would be hard to lock all four wheels at the same time.

  • A. New locks come with setting combination instructions. Changing the combination is the same process. However when the lock is uncoupled, on the free end of the combination there is a metal dial. U have to have the current combination to be able to turn this dial to reset the numbers.

  • A. Once the lock is open, there is a dial on the side where the combination part is. Turn the metal dial all the way. Then set the code at what you like then turn the dial all the back and voila.

  • A. 1.Separate the male and female ends of the cable. 2.On the end of the tumbler side of the cable (the one with the numbers) there is a serated disc with an arrow and the word "set". 3.Turn the disc in the direction of the arrow (clockwise) as far as it will go. 4.Set whatever 4 number code you desire. 5. turn the disc backwards as far as it will go (counter clockwise). 6. Right down the new combination!

This lock is robust and a deterrent for the average bozo thief. One of the best features is that you can set your own combination which is really great because I tend to forget lock combinations. It is very easy to set the combination and the instructions are clear. The bracket for mounting the lock on the bicycle is more secure than most. It coils up into a tidy bundle. For the money, this is a very good lock. No lock will stop a determined thief with tools, but this lock will make it inconvenient enough to stop the teen thief or the drunk who just wants to hop on a bike and ride off with it.

Good lock for the money, but poor frame mount.

The lock seems study, strong, and well constructed. The code is easy to set. The dials turn easily and smoothly. PRO: The length is good for locking two bikes together. CON: The cable thickness is on the thin side. The frame mount bracket is very hard to use and very poorly designed. Mounting Bracket Problem: The frame bracket has two parts. One mounts on the bike frame and the other is attached to the lock cable. The bike mounted part has a slot that the other part slides into. In order to release the lock there is a lever to press that does not work properly. It takes allot of wiggling and pulling to get it to release. Furthermore, the lock mounted part is mounted to the cable not the heavy code dial part. As a result, the heavy lock flops around while attached to the mount which can be bothersome while riding. There is a velcro strip attached to the cable that helps keep the bundle togeather but it's just another step to unlocking your bike. Conclusion: The Kryptonite 5' x 12mm, also sold on Wallmart for a similar price, is overall a better lock. If you need the extra length and don’t mind a little less security this this could be a good lock for you. Also keep in mind that the frame mount is not very good.

Stolen Bike using this lock

I got my son a brand new $170 bike plus this lock (OnGard 6' Coil Cable Combination Lock) and a helmet a month before school. 4 days after, he decides to go with his friend to the grocery store on his new bike. My son parked his bike in front of the store and use this lock to secure the bike. After shopping he went out and realized that the bike was stolen and the broken lock was left on the floor. The camera footage shows how easily this guy broke the lock and took the bike. People were next to thief and no one thought he was stealing it because he didn't struggle with the lock. This happened 2 weeks ago. I had read the review and I thought this Lock was good, but I can't believe how easy he broke the lock. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!

This lock is a piece of junk. Though the thick cable gives a perception of strength and anti-theft protection, the locking mechanism is flimsy and worthless. Slight tension on the cable allowed me to guess the combination no matter what the combination that was set. Unless you only want the illusion that your bike is protected, I would NOT recommend this lock! Even if it was free, I would NOT recommend you "protect" you bike with it. I promptly returned my purchase.
