  • About this item

The Okuma Avenger Bait Feeder 65 Reel is one of the top ones in the category with its patented on/off auto trip function. With this function, you can disengage the spool with a simple rear adjustment and allow the line to run freely. This mechanism makes the fish that picks up the bait to run with little resistance. You can then set the hook and fight the fish with the drag system on the Okuma Avenger reel. The gear ratio of four and a half to one allows you to retrieve the bait quickly. The multi-disk Japanese oiled washers on this baitfeeder spinning reel provides maximum fish fighting power with a consistent smooth-hand drag operation. The Hydro Block watertight drag seal retains its superior braking function even when wet or under the strain of a bigger catch. Made from stainless steel, the ball bearings resist corrosion and render smooth operation. The reeling gear is made from precision machine-cut brass and ensures optimum strength.

This Okuma fishing reel is a must-have for fishing.

Excellent Saltwater reel. I use it with 12 foot surf rod and 30 pound Spiderwire (8 lb diameter) casts very well and bait feeder drag tells you when a fish is on. Will probably buy a second for my other rod.

okuma makes great reels at very affordable prices with high built quality and this is one of their best. for 44$ you get so much quality that you will not get even with reels costing more than 300$ (e.g. my $350 Daiwa Infinity X5000BR). this reel works so smooth, it's a pleasure to use. i own two of these and would recommend these to anyone who needs an affordable big pit bait feeder reel of high quality. the only thing that i don't like the reel is the golder paint on some of its bolt heads and spool rim. if these were the same color as the rest of the reel (gray) the reel would have been a lot more stylish. that's not a big drawback though...

First of all, it was a fantastic price! Lower than Cabela's. Second, FREE shipping "site to store"! And third, a great product. I have a Penn Slammer760 live liner and quality wise, this Okuma is close. Plus you get an extra spool and the benefit of having a lever to shut off the anti-reverse! My Penn doesn't have that feature. And finally, Walmart service was excellent!

    • Yes, it is designed as a salt water reel. It is stainless steel and treated aluminum. As with any precision device, you always should hose it off when you return from any salt water fishing trip. I use 30 pound test with a 10 foot 50 pound leader. I have caught 44 inch bull reds with no worry what so ever. If you are fishing for 300 pound sharks, get the larger Okuma 90 but for fish under 100 pounds, this one is fine.

    • This is a heavy Duty Reel designed for Salt Water. I have used it in extreme Surf Condition and have been able to Land some Large fish with ease. My Reel is Teamed with a 13 ' Glass Rod of Medium to heavy Strength . I use from 20 to 50 Pound Braided Line without any Difficulty ! the Reel is very smooth !

    • Yes it is built for saltwater but can be used in fresh if you choose to. Line capacity will determine the diameter of the line you choose. I have 300yrds of Stren magna flex 0.46 20lb test and seems to cast and reel very well with this setup

    • it will hold 200yards of 80lbs mono
      by Supercatdaddy
Was this answer helpful? (2) (1)
    • The question has to be more specific. If you are using mono line 12 lb you can get about 540 yards. But you have to go by the lines diameter. So a super braid line 30 lb you can get about the same yardage because it is very thin diameter.

    • The handle can be switched to either side without tools. One hand-tighten knob removes the handle to switch it to the other side. Takes about 1 minute if you are slow.

    • most reel especially spinning reels can be either right or left handed. Just look on the other side the handle is on and up screw the knob and pull the handle out and put it on the other side and presto you can have it either right or left handed.

    • Most spinning reels have the handle on the left, but most also allow you to switch them to the right. Conventional reels mostly have the handle on the right but some higher end models offer a left version.

      by currysmell
Was this answer helpful? (3) (0)
    • If you look on the spool it will tell you ie; 10lb/300. That is it will hold 10lb line about 300' The heavier poundage the line the less feet length it is. Also the bigger the reel the more line it holds. My Okuma can hold to much line and the braid line is expensive so I use a nylon/mono the first couple hundred feet and then fill the spool with to expensive braid.
