i was at my end trying different diapers for my chihuahua thats paralyzed. I have purchased drag bags, belly bands, washable diaper, and other more expensive puppy diapers. Thank goodness for these. They fit well and stay on all night as he loves to burrow in our bed with the other dogs. No leaks and he hasn't wiggled out of them like the others. I'm ordering more. Thank you

They Work Well!!!

I have a female senior dog who gets really confused, and piddles at a moments notice. This product allows her the freedom to wander the house without supervision, and gives me peace-of-mind when I go out for the day. It holds quite the volume of liquid as well; I can tell on some mornings she's has needed it more than once. Even fully loaded, it hasn't leaked. If you ever wondered how they work, they're like little infant diapers (they even have a cute design - little doggie bones). First you fit the tail through the hole with the pad-portion on the bottom, then use the resealable tapes to fit the diaper to the dog on its back. There is a heavier, clear plastic strip on the top portion (that sits over their back); if you attach the strips to this portion, they're easy to remove and reattach without ripping the diaper, so you can reuse them if they're not soiled. For sizing, I have a thin to medium weight Llasa Apsa, and she fits within the waist measurement (measure the waist just forward of their hind legs). If they're a little loose, you can always tighten up the fit with the tabs. I'd be more concerned with the length on male dogs. This small pad measures 8 inches in absorbant material, so check the distance from directly under the tail hole to his winkie.

If you find yourself needing a diaper for and older dog who is having control problems this is an excellent product. It is resealable if they make it outside and it holds alot of fluid if the don't. I won't say it's leak proof because that would be a lie but it is leak resistant. My ONLY issue is that you find a product that works and then you can no longer find it in stores. This is also not available on line. PLEASE start stocking it again. WE really need them.

  • It probably would if you could get them on in the first place and secondly if you could get them to stay on. We are having much better luck with regular baby pull ups.

  • It collects both. However, my Shih Tzu has yet, to have a full bowel movement in her dog diaper. Hence, just a very small trace. However, the diapers collects and holds her urine very well, without, leaks or smell.

  • No, it only retains the urine. The BM comes out the hole in the diaper provided for the tail.

  • In my experience, bowel movements aren't caught by the diaper. The diaper has a hole for the dog's tail - a necessary feature but inconvenient when the dog has a bowel movement.

  • It depends on the size of dog you have. I have an 8lb toy poodle that I use the diapers for and the issue I ran into is the hole provided for the tail is slightly larger than it needs to be so I actually tape up the excess area to keep all of the bowel movement in (I've ran into this with other brands as well) I would imagine if your dog were a larger breed the tail would more than likely fill the hole and the diapers would keep the bowel movements entirely in the diaper without having to adjust anything.

my male chi is about 9lbs, but the waist size on the small is bigger than his measurements, but he falls within the weight. The xs is the right waist but lower weight..which size would be best?
by dashanddigger 2/20/2011
  • Our toy poodle weighs only 6 pounds and has a small waist. Most important is the length of the diaper. The XS diapers are too short to cover the wetting area completely. As 9 pound dog needs the small.

  • I would try the small as you can make the waist more snug if need be.

  • I have a toy poodle that is 8lbs and he wears the small diapers. The XS fit him however the diaper barely covered his male parts and would easily slip back which allows him to urinate outside of the diaper. Using the small we have to place the diaper on pretty snuggly however we find it provides the best protection.

  • i would use XS. if they're too small, return them for a S. my maltese weighs 10lbs and i used to use the small but the XS actually stays on her better. sometimes she tries to rub against the furniture and can slip them off.

  • My dogs waist size would be xsmall but the diaper didn't go far enough up past the tail to stay on so I bought smalls and they worked better she can still get them off if I don't clip them to a doggie shirt at the back. These diapers are no longer resealable and clean ones have to be taped back on.

  • My Toy Poodle weighs about 7lbs. I bought the S and it works fine. She kind of think in the middle, but the adhesive strips are adjustable so you have flexibliity
