I am starting to be plagued by hot flashes, and having a small desktop/tabletop fan nearby when I'm on the computer became a dire necessity. I originally went to Walmart looking for the O2COOL 5" round fan with USB cable and AC adapter, but I wanted black and the only ones in the store were either white, turquoise, pink or purple. This one was on the shelf right next to the USB fan, and it occurred to me that with battery power I didn't need to use any sort of cable and could move the fan anywhere. When I got it home and put batteries in it, I fell in love with it. It's super sturdy, has 2 speeds and both are very comfortable. I can take it with me from room to room, and even pop it in my bag to take with me to various jobs. It was ridiculously inexpensive at $6.78, so I intend to buy a few more the next time I'm in the store. It would also be very nice to use when sitting somewhere with your laptop that doesn't have air conditioning, or if the premises is without electricity - I live in South Florida, and hurricane season comes with plenty of power outages!

I have the 10 inch bigger brother to this little 5 inch fan and have used it on camping trip already. However, the 10 inch version of this fan costs 4 times as much ($23) and uses 4 times the amount of D cell batteries (total of 8 D Cells). Yuck. I purchased this one for my son to use during camping. Unfortunately it didn't quite put out enough to cool him off in the tent on the hotter nights. But at 6 bucks (which is the current cost) I am just going to buy him two. Still cheaper than buying another $23 10 inch version of the fan and it should put out enough to keep him cool. You can also hook it to a DC power source, but the adapter is not included. As I recall it only uses like 300mamps at 3 volts. Alkaline batteries will run the fan for days, but rechargeables will run out much quicker. Using a DC adapter, I hooked the fan to a 7 amp hour battery and ran the fan for 2 nights on high and it never slowed down. The fans are NOT rugged, but they are not totally fragile either. Just treat them kindly and not like hockey pucks. I have already gotten my $6 out of them.

I bought this little nifty fan for medical reasons. I have a chronic cough due to a heart condition and asthma. In addition my meds make me very heat sensitive. I brought this to use anywhere & anytime I need to have air movement to my face and upper body. Oddly it has helped me quite a bit from coughing frequently in public. In addition, to keeping me comfortable in heated up environments that have very little to no air flow. NO this fan is not equipped to use an electrical adapter cord, I want to clarify this. It's for batteries ONLY! I got a little plastic basket thing to put the fan in & I can have it attached to my walker while it's on. It's at a perfect level for me to feel the breeze while I am sitting down Also, I can slip this into a gallon size zip lock bag and put in to my tote bag until I need to use it. It is very quiet on the low or high speed, and you can position it to suit your needs. Also, if your power goes out due to a storm & it's in the hot weather months, you will be happy to have this on hand! Thanks Walmart for making this available!

I've had my O2 Cool 5" fan for at least 5 years and it's been used every spring and summer weekday at work since I've had it. I live in Southeast Texas, so we don't have many cold days, and since I work in a metal building on the uppermost floor, even a 65 degree day can make my work area uncomfortable. Our a/c isn't the greatest, so my little fan is perfect. The batteries last a long time, too. Even in summer when I run it almost consistently M-F, probably 6 out of the 8 hours (off and on use), I only change batteries once a month. Sometimes they last even longer depending on the brand. Since our area is prone to hurricanes and we always lose electricity during one, I'm going to get more of these so each of my family members can have a fan in case we have to come back from evacuation before the electricity is restored. Of course it won't replace a/c, but when you have nothing, this is great.

I actually saw these fans on Amazon.com for $15 but a reviewer mentioned that they were available at Walmart for only $6! Well, yes they were and we picked up 2 of them for less than the price of one at Amazon! And, the little whirlwinds really work! No, they won't replace an electric fan and you do have to have them close to you (it is only a 5 inch fan, after all!) but for the outdoor concert we purchased them for (Steely Dan!), they worked exceptionally well. Two D size batteries makes the base more stable and the batteries don't show any signs of being weak. I'm taking them with me this week to a 3 day Corvette event which is outdoors, so I'm looking forward to them moving some of the 90 degree air during our R&R time. If you need a small, portable fan, do not hesitate. These will fill the bill and help make a hot day more bearable.

I carry one in my toolkit to service office equipment. Folds flat for compact storage and Alkaline batteries last a long time. Having a focused, quiet source of moving air can make you much more comfortable. Fan has 2 speeds and Low is usually enough but High will cool you off quickly. I bought 3 over a year ago not knowing how long the motor would hold up. I'm still using the 1st one!

The portable fan is wonderful. It really shocked me how much air it produces. So I can say that it went passed my expectations and blew me away.

Best Little Fan for the money!!!!

I have owned my 5" fan now for about 3 yrs. This is my second one in 6 years. I brought mine original to take to Baseball games in the south after spending count less dollars for the hand held fans that either don't cool you off or the batteries don't last one night. One of the biggest plus is that it quiet and has a stand and you don't have to hold it. I sit on the first row at the ballpark and place the fan on the dugout. Yes it makes a noise when you position it and close it they all do.Usually I only have to use one set of batteries the whole baseball season which is 5 plus months. I have even used it to travel to other ballparks it's small and doesn't take up much room. One other plus is that I have used this at home during power outages in the summer and at outside parties and events. I also brought the 10" fan thinking if the smaller one is so good the bigger one would be better.Even it the south in the heat of the summer the small one is enough. I love to use the bigger one at home where it can just plug it in and save the batteries until I need to use them. Walmart has the best price for their fan as I had brought my first one at another store for a dollar more and it was on clearance and seen them in another big box store for twice the price. I have given them as gifts. I don't waste my money on any of the hand held fans anymore.
