Book Information

The following content was provided by the publisher.
Nearly 60 percent of American households today consist of only one or two people, yet most cookbooks don't reflect this trend, with recipes designed for large families, yielding 6-8 servings. For individuals and small families who want to cook hearty, healthful meals but don't want to deal with all the leftovers, Beth Hensperger has the solution. The James Beard Award-winning author follows up the best-selling Not Your Mother's(R) Slow Cooker Cookbook with Not Your Mother's(R) Slow Cooker Recipes for Two, a collection of 125 new recipes specially designed for the small slow cooker. As always, Hensperger's innovative recipes call for fresh, healthful ingredients and continue to prove that the slow cooker can produce amazing meals. While the recipes yield the perfect amount for two or three people, there is no shortage of flavor with dishes such as Quick Hominy and Zucchini Chili, Moroccan-Spiced Tomato Chicken with Almonds, Lamb Stew with Lemon and Garlic, and Vegetable Polenta with Mascarpone Cheese. The slow cooker is an essential countertop appliance for busy cooks, and this is the only book on the market specifically written for the increasingly popular 1 1/2- 3 1/2-quart slow cooker. Not Your Mother's(R) Slow Cooker Recipes for Two is great for the growing population of empty-nesters, working couples, singles, and small families who want the convenience of small slow-cooker cooking without sacrificing wholesomeness and flavor.

Review by Library Journal (2006-12-01)

Hensperger is the author of more than a dozen other cookbooks and coauthor of Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker Cookbook. Her follow-up to that best-selling title presents recipes developed specifically for smaller slow cookers intended to serve one or two people that often leave leftovers (she points out that smaller batches cannot be cooked efficiently or as well in larger cookers). Most of the recipes are for homey, hearty fare; there is also a short chapter of quick and easy accompaniments prepared separately, along with a good, basic introduction to slow cooking. For all subject collections.

Customer Product Reviews

Rated 2 out of 5★ by 2reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5★ by It's ok, but not what I expected. Some of the recipes I can work with, most I will have to make adaptations on. What I do like is that it calls for easy to find items but I was not very happy about finding recipes that call for canned items to put in my crock pot...I was hoping to cook my own food, not warm up the pre-cooked canned items. I can do that without a recipe book and without a crock pot. It's not made for a single mother working full time. I figure if I decide to follow the recipes that call for 2 hr cooking time, I will have to start the crock pot when I get home, and food will be done by the time it's time to go to bed so I'll have to warm up my food the next day. Still, I plan to use it even if I have to substitute items or wait till next day to enjoy my food. 07/14/2010
Rated 1 out of 5★ by no pictures inside I like pictures in my recipe books. The only pictures this had was the ones on the cover. Was not too impressed with the recipe selection as well. I'm giving this to my Dad. He said he would try some recipes out of it when he gets a slow cooker. As for me, nope. 01/10/2013
