The documentary release Songs that Changed the World: Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit revisits one of the staples of early 1990s alternative rock. Coinciding with the September 1991 issue of Nirvana's album Nevermind (from which it was culled), the rousing single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" clocked in as the seminal ballad of the disillusioned and apathetic Generation X. This film travels back in time to revisit the production and release of the Cobain single, its contributions to a then-nascent musical genre known as grunge, and its impact on an untold number of teenage and young adult listeners. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide.
