I can't rate on the lifetime of the batteries, because we have only had it a week. Sensor is kind of sensitive, it walking past the trash can will sometimes open. Overall Great Product! 02/11/2013

I waited for a long time to purchase a stainless steel garbage can, because I did not want to spend over $50.00. The price at $39.99 was excellent. Its sleek and have the automatic opener. I keep going to the can, so that it can open up and then close by itself. I would recommend this product 100%. 02/11/2013
