Nikon CoolPix P7000 Black 10.1MP Digital Camera w/ 7.1x Wide Angle Optical Zoom, 3" High-Resolution LCD 4.1 5 309 310
Compact, but loaded. Love this camera. It's able to do so much in such a small package. I love the ability to shoot in raw and full manual, although I have found that the auto features are very accurate for most situations, and the low light exposures are great. I would recommend this to any professional as an alternative to an SLR for doing things on the side and traveling, and I think that a novice could use it as well with just a little bit of practice. 04/14/2011
Great features, poor color I bought this with great hopes that I was getting a great companion for my D90. I have been extremely disappointed with the color rendition from the camera. Not a novice camera user, I have tried every adjustment available, and the camera does not render accurate color on any setting under any condition. It looks like I am shooting through a pair of green sunglasses. I have adjusted the tint, tried the manual white balance, etc. All color temps (auto, sun, tungsten, etc.) are off center. Might be correctable with Photoshop, but should not need to do this with a good camera. I hope this is merely a problem with this camera, not with the series; but it has made me very skeptical of buying another Coolpix. I get much better pictures with a 5-yr old Sony W150.This does not even come close to my D90, which gives excellent pictures (though it does tend to over-expose, this is a simple adjustment).I am returning the camera. Hope Nikon will come up with something better -- do NOT want to resort to a Canon. Other than color rendition, the camera has great features! But I don't get any photos even resembling the quality of the samples I've seen here or elsewhere from this camera. 04/11/2011
I am a Nikon costumer for more than 13 years and a Nikkon DSLR user, however, sometimes one wants something easier to tote around--but close in capability. The P7000 provides such a choice. Last year I bought a Coolpix P7000 and I currently have issue with the indoor autofocus( it freeze; just not working). Also when I take the camera outside in the cold, sometimes it does the same. Some pictures come out soft, even when the autofocus says the shot is in focus; also write speed is slow and I haven't notice much difference with the new firmware(1.1)There is anything that Nikon can do to improve the P7000's issues? 04/04/2011
Kinda slow . . . I'm an old Olympus OM-1 fan (control, control, control . . . ) who's been busy making babies, running a business, and scarfing my husband's point-and-shoot when necessary. Time to enter the 21st century, but man, it's slow going! I've had the P7000 for a few months but I have not gotten beyond basic functions. It's not intuitively set up. Im sure it would be easier for someone thoroughly conversant with digital cameras. I'm not, and it's slow going, even with the inclusion of the "just to get started" quickie instructions (nice touch). Seems like it should have come with a lens cover--I am afraid I'll bend the slats. Powers up pretty quickly, but turnaround for the next shot--as pointed out by numerous online reviews--is slow. Got this to introduce me to DSLR, but I am thinking maybe I should have just gone ahead and gotten the "big camera," as long as it's taking me to learn how to use this one. But nice size for grab and go. And it seems sturdy, despite its light weight; I've dropped it and it survived. 04/03/2011
