    Customer Product Reviews

    Rated 4.6 out of 5★by 20reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5★by Our First Family DSLR So far so good. I bought this camera for my wife (Xmas 2013) who used to work selling cameras, and she was very excited to get her Nikon. We considered Sony and Cannon, but neither had as "good" a solution as the D5300. Why we bought this one - Great picture quality and color representation,1080 video at 60p with stereo audio built in, wireless built in is a plus for us as we like being able to take group pics with the iPhone app, and the other big thing - we weren't looking to spend a ton of money for an additional SD card slot, larger sensor, etc. All things being realative, we feel this is a great camera for the money. We are very happy with the camera. The pictures so far are excellent, especially in low light #have shot in a large aquarium, at night with fireworks in the background, and in low light indoors#. The 140mm zoom is enough for us for now, but we will probably get a 300mm lens in the future. The only drawback we have found is that while shooting video, there is no auto focus. You can auto focus at the beginning, but if your subject changes or moves, it will not auto focus - it is all manual.Other than the one drawback on the video, we are very happy and see this being a great camera. 01/03/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★by First dSLR and I love it! I always try to buy the latest and greatest when making a purchase. I am so glad I did with this Nikon product. 12/26/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★by Performer! Way better than Canon Cameras. Love clicking pictures with it. 06/27/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★by The best Camara I am so happy with Nikon. The pictures are perfect. Thank you! 06/17/2014
Rated 4 out of 5★by Great Camera This Camera has good image quality, amazing video capabilities, accurate mic sensitivity control, a nice looking user interface and I don't even have to look at the screen to know my shutter speed, aperture and ISO. I think these features are great, however a couple things I don't like about it. For one the battery door is kind of dinky and it doesn't feel solid unlike the memory card door, which feels nice and solid. This problem almost isn't a problem because the only time you would use the battery door is to charge the battery. Also there is a spring clip holding the battery in. Secondly, the live view lags after the picture is taken. Therefore the shot-to-shot time is an annoying 1-2 seconds. If they could fix this with a firmware update, that would be good. The camera is a bit pricey, but overall, it's a great camera. 12/10/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★by Like the Camera, Don't Like the Manual I've only taken the camera out for serious exercise once so far. All of the pictures were overexposed. The manual was no help; I had to just try all the features and functionality I could see. When I found out how to manage the exposure it was so easy - easier than my D40X. So I am happy with the camera, love the GPS feature, think the wi-fi connection to my iPad is a kick but probably of little practical use - but I don't care much for the manual or online help. 03/25/2014
Rated 1 out of 5★by Wireless options very limited & other is simply absurd in 2014 that there are no options to configure manually in the network name and password wifi !not to mention that the WPS is designed to "cool" ridiculous iphone, or thought to lagandroid globalizing worldwide tablet, but it 's not possible to use Wifi for those who still use it for productive purposes ... the wireless environment under Windows programs with professional editing is non-existent !it is absurd that I have a Fritzbox router from over 200 € and it can not establish a WPS connection with the Nikon D5300 DSLR!not to say that the connection with Windows Phone is not even hinted at in nikon manual !I hope that the next update firwmware can be remedied as soon as this Huge bugs , worthy of a camera discount!I suggest also the possibility to lock the self-timer option :present after the first self-timer need to select it manually each time, and it is known that the self-timer is also used to prevent micro-movement that we normally taking professional photographs in ... Big waste of time for users. If Nikon is big business , Nikon listens to my advice. 04/22/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★by so far, so great Just got the camera and trying to figure out which buttons do what. Had a Minolta SRT 202 35 mm camera that I bought at a fire sale store in 86 or early 87 and the D5300 just leaves that old camera in the dust. I have taken a few pics with this camera and they look good and would and will look better if the operator will learn how to push the buttons and which ones at the right time.Got the 18-140 lens and would like to get a wide exposure lens later on. Looking forward to taking some great pictures in the future. Also have a Nikon Coolpix P60 that have enjoyed, but will not do what the D5300 will do. 02/15/2014
