Newport Ottoman, Mocha 5 6
Very Disappointed! Like the other reviewers, I too bought this to complement the Newport sectional found here. Unlike the the other reviewers, however, I was quite disappointed with this product. While I cannot speak of it's durability or of it's overall functionality or appearance when displayed in the same room as the sectional, I can say that the first thing I thought when I opened the packaging at Walmart was, "This is SO not worth 200 bucks!"<br>First of all, the material looked like cheap, thin vinyl that I immediately felt would not endure everyday use (no matter how light)...honestly, I feel the "leather-like" description could not be any more misleading. Second, I viewed this on three different monitors before ordering and found that the color is much lighter than I expected/desired/indicated in the pics. Besides that, the stitching looked gaudy..the stitches were very large with gaps in between each stitch (it looked like the hem of a poorly tailored pair of pants or cut-off shorts) and were done in an off-white/cream color - much brighter than I would expect on a "dark" piece of furniture. It looked very tacky. And finally, although I had taped out a sized outline in my own living room, the thing looked much smaller in person (not just shorter, but just plain smaller).<br>Overall, I was truly disappointed in this piece. I would cancel my order for the furniture but it has already shipped. I'm assuming I will be denying delivery since the lower portion of the sectional is obviously of the same material/craftsmanship, but I will keep those of you who are interested informed (via a review of that item) as I will certainly inspect before letting the shippers drop it off. I hope that I will be pleasantly surprised by the sectional, but I'm not getting my hopes up. 09/14/2009
